Phase One releases Capture One Express 7

Phase One has announced Capture One Express 7, the latest version of its Raw image processing and workflow tool for enthusiasts. A stripped-down version of Capture One Pro, Capture One Express 7 gains features including HDR processing, lens correction and a new digital asset management tool. While the Express edition doesn’t support tethered shooting, images can be viewed remotely and wirelessly using either the Capture Pilot app for iOS or using a web browser on computers, Android devices and Windows phones. Capture One Express 7 will cost $ 99/€69 with discounts for upgraders from previous versions. Click through for the press release and more details.

Nikon Europe releases Coolpix S3500 compact camera

Nikon Europe has announced the Coolpix S3500. Available in multiple colors, the entry-level compact features a 20MP CCD sensor, 2.7″ LCD, 720p HD recording and is compatible with Eye-Fi wireless memory cards. Casio Europe releases 20.1 MP Exilim EX-ZS20 camera

Casio Europe has launched the Exilim EX-ZS20 featuring a 20.1 MP CCD sensor. It comes with a a 6x 26-156mm optical zoom lens and a 2.7 inch LCD. The camera includes beginner-friendly features include a Premium Auto mode and a set of eight Art shot filters. The ZS20 will be available silver, black, purple, white, and pink at a price to be confirmed. Click through for the press release.

Visual Supply Company releases Film 03 presets pack for Lightroom & ACR

Visual Supply Company has released the VSCO Film 03 camera profiles and film emulation preset pack for Adobe Lightroom 4 and Camera Raw 7. The software comes with customized camera profiles for Fujifilm, Canon and Nikon image files and allows native non-destructive editing of desired film effects within Lightroom and ACR. The latest version includes a toolkit to achieve an ‘authentic instant ?lm’ look. Version 03 is currently available for immediate download at a retail price of $ 119 (~ £75/ €90) from the company’s website.

Olympus releases updated M.Zuiko Digital ED 75-300mm lens

Olympus has announced the M.Zuiko Digital ED 75-300mm 1:4.8-6.7 II, an updated version of its lightweight 150-600mm equivalent telephoto lens for the Micro Four Thirds system. While most of the changes are cosmetic, the lens elements feature the latest ZERO (Zuiko Extra-low Reflection Optical) coating to resist scratches and reduce ghosting. Like its predecessor, this version also includes Olympus’ MSC technology which aims to minimize focusing noise during video capture. The lens will be available only in black from March 2013 at an estimated street price of $ 549.99.

Casio releases Exilim EX-ZR700 and EX-ZR400 High Speed compacts

Casio has announced two additions to its High Speed Exilim series, the EX-ZR700 and EX-ZR400. The EX-ZR700 uses a 16.1 MP back-illuminated CMOS sensor, 3 inch LCD and a stabilized 18x, 25-450mm equivalent optical zoom lens. The EX-ZR400 is similar to its predecessor the EX-ZR300, inheriting its 16.1MP BSI-CMOS sensor and 24-300mm equiv. lens, and comes equipped with a long-lasting battery promising 515 photos on a single charge. Both cameras feature the company’s latest Exilim Engine HS 3 processer and new shooting modes including a Premium Auto Pro and an All-In-Focus Macro mode. There is currently no information available about their price and availability.

LZeal releases ezShare wireless SDHC card with a Wi-Fi on/off switch

Chinese software company LZeal has announced ezShare – a Wi-Fi SDHC card with an on/off switch to reduce power consumption in cameras without menu options to control such cards. When the wireless function is turned on, images can be accessed via a web browser, suggesting it offers an HTML server, like Toshiba’s Flash Air cards. There are also dedicated apps for smartphones and tablets. The Class 10 SD cards are available in 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacities.

Pentax releases firmware updates for K-5 II and K-5 IIs DSLRs

Pentax has released the first firmware updates to its K-5 II and K-5 IIs digital SLRs, which were released in September of last year. Firmware version 1.01 offers contrast adjustment option for the cameras’ LCD displays as well as ‘stability improvements’. The updates are available for immediate download from the company’s website – click through for download links.

Phase One releases Capture One Pro 7.02 with Fujifilm X-Trans support

Phase One has announced that it has updated its Capture One Pro raw conversion software to version 7.02. This includes support for several additional cameras, including the Fujifilm X-Pro1, X-E1 and XF1, Canon EOS 6D and EOS M, Sony SLT-A57 and NEX-5R, and Olympus XZ-2 iHS. The update is available immediately from the company’s website, as a free download for users of Capture One 7.

Olympus releases Stylus SZ-16 and SZ-15 compact superzooms

Olympus has announced the Stylus SZ-16 iHS and the Stylus SZ-15 iHS – a pair of 24x compact superzoom cameras. Both cameras offer an 25-600mm equivalent zoom range. The SZ-16 iHS is based around a 16MP CMOS sensor, allowing it to offer 1080p video and the other high-speed features needed to wear the company’s iHS branding. The SZ-15 makes do with a 16MP CCD sensor, restricting it to 720p video capture. The SZ-16 iHS uses Olympus’ previous-generation TruePic V processor, while the SZ-15 uses an older TruePic III+ chip.
