The Fujifilm X100F is the fourth iteration in the company’s series of compact-yet-capable fixed lens cameras. Though this model carries over the previous iterations’ 23mm (35mm equivalent) F2 lens, the lens takes on new life in front of a 24MP X-Trans CMOS III sensor found in the X-Pro2 and X-T2.
In the span of one weekend, our beta X100F has traveled from the east coast of the United States to the west, from candid street portraits to puppies, and there is an awful lot in between. Enjoy, and keep an eye out for an updated gallery with a full production model in the coming weeks.

Archaic focusing system, no video mode, no USB socket: the Leica M10 isn’t for everyone (and at $ 6600 body-only is prohibitively expensive), but it’s absolutely lovely. We took the updated Canon 24-105mm F4L II out into the elements to put the lens to the test. With a wide focal range, this lens has the potential to be the ultimate walk-around workhorse for many photographers. With that said, the real question is does the update warrant an upgrade for current owners of the previous version? Check out our sample gallery to see for yourself.

The Canon 70-300 F4-5.6 IS II USM is a budget-friendly zoom that packs a lot of focal length into a relatively lightweight package. It’s a great option for enthusiasts or travel photographers wanting reach without too much heft.
Plus, it has built-in image stabilization, a nifty electronic lens information display and is fairly quick-to-focus. We took it to the zoo, and though it was cold and many of the animals were off-exhibit, the lens proved useful enough to capture a few cool creatures.

The Canon EF-M 18-150mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM is a travel zoom for the company’s mirrorless cameras. It’s equivalent to 28.8-240mm when attached to an EF-M mount camera, such as the EOS M5 that we used for this gallery. You could be forgiven for cautiously entering one of these rooms full of wavy sketched lines, stepping over obstacles that aren’t really there, uncertain whether parts of the walls are really projecting out toward you. Artist Peter Kogler creates spatial illusions that take over every surface of a gallery, turning it into a ‘virtual maze.’ A master of the large-scale print, he’s spent the last 30 years perfecting his techniques. The ones involving grids of lines pull off the most disorienting effects.
Pictured here are installations from the last few years, including work displayed at the ING Art Center in Brussels this year, the Sigmund Freud Museum in Vienna in 2015 and the Galerie im Taxiplalais in 2014. His computer-generated works have even adorned the exterior walls of pavilions and museums, and often feature imagery of snakes, ants and pipes.
According to his artist statement, “Kolger has been interested in new, innovative art practices, not only in the field of visual, but also in performative arts, sound and music. He continued his work by shifting the boundaries of artistic expression and developed a very impressive, emotionally and artistically convincing world, whose layered meanings open communication paths to the widest public.”
“After several years of research at the beginning of his artistic career, in painting, performance and experimental film, since 1984 Kogler has used computer technology. Heralding the future development of computer-generated art already in the ‘60s, in the spirit of that positivist-optimistic time, Michael Noll wrote: ‘The computer is an active medium the artist can interact with at a new level, liberated from many physical limitations of all former media. The artistic possibilities of this kind of creative medium as the artist’s helping device are truly exciting and challenging.”
