I have the class 10 32gb SanDisk Ultra card. I formatted the SD card as instructed in the Canon t3i owners manual and the very first video I ever recorded with this camera only lasted about 5 seconds before it stopped recording automatically. And it still does it frequently. So it’s not the SD card it’s more like the camera has a serious bug that Canon NEEDS TO FIX!!!

Nothing seems to fix this issue…! I have tried class 10 and even elite pro cards and it still does it…complain to canon everybody…they have to fix the writing speeds

I actually never got a new SD. I just formatted it, and as you say it works perfectly! 😀

It would be great if this works, but for most it DOES NOT. I have a T3i and my bro-in-law has a 60D. We both experience this constantly with Class 10 cards. I have a bunch of PNY’s and Transcends and have tried other brands as well. Formattig helps on the Transcends but only for a while. A while = 10 to 30 minutes of non-continuous shooting. This is pathetic and I will now force the issue with Canon while I still have a warranty.

It worked for my 60D camera with the card shown (transcend); might be due to different names of cards a person is using or other reasons suggested in the comments (e.g. formatting).

This happened to me the first time I started recording and it stopped at around 5 seconds of recording. I have a class “10” 32gb Ultra SanDisk. afterwards I formatted the card twice erasing everything I had and it still does it usually at the first video I start recording for the first 5 seconds or so. I have not found a real solution yet. Any other ideas?

I have not found a solution.. to record video all I can do is use a low level formatted sd card, as soon as any pictures are taken on the car the video recording stops after a few secs.

press menu and go over to the first tool option and go to “format” because the memory card might not be connected to camera memory. that happened to me
