LifePrint’s portable wireless printer hits Kickstarter

Robert Macauley wants to make photographs special again – by printing them. He’s one of the heads behind the LifePrint Kickstarter project that is aiming to build a portable wireless printer that is controlled via an iOS or Android app. The LifePrint team is looking to secure $ 200,000 of funding to build a printer that will be capable of printing a 3×4″ photo in approximately 30 seconds. Learn more

SanDisk debuts new line of wireless memory storage devices

Sandisk has announced its new Connect line of wireless flash memory storage devices, including the SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive and SanDisk Connect Wireless Media Drive. SanDisk says its Wireless Flash Drive allows for wireless connectivity from a smartphone, tablet or computer without an Internet connection. LockCircle releases Prime Circle XE lenses with wireless aperture control

Accessory maker LockCircle has announced Prime Circle XE lenses in a Canon EF mount with a wireless controller that can can change aperture remotely at distances of up to 300 feet. Ranging between focal lengths of 15mm to 135mm, the lenses feature Carl Zeiss optics in a housing designed specifically for cinematographers with large focus scales and a common 95mm front mount across the range of lenses. There is currently no information about the XE series’ price and availability.

PocketWizard PlusX transceiver for wireless flash and camera triggering

PocketWizard has added a budget model to its camera/flash radio trigger line: the PlusX ‘auto-sensing’ transceiver, that automatically switches between transmit and receive as needed. The PlusX offers the ability to trigger cameras and flashes over 10 radio channels. It features a side-profile design, backlit display, an internal antenna, and a dual-function LED indicating connection status plus battery life. PocketWizard PlusX will be available towards the end of March at a suggested retail price of $ 99. There is currently no information about the European price and availability.

Satechi introduces BT Smart Trigger wireless shutter release for Canon

Accessory maker Satechi has announced the BT Smart Trigger, an iOS-controlled Bluetooth 4.0 shutter release for Canon DSLRs. It features multiple shooting modes including timelapse and long exposures, via the free Smart Trigger app. The trigger has a claimed battery life of up to 10 years and range of 50 feet. It is currently available for an introductory price of $ 44.99. An Android-compatible version will be available from March 2013.

LZeal releases ezShare wireless SDHC card with a Wi-Fi on/off switch

Chinese software company LZeal has announced ezShare – a Wi-Fi SDHC card with an on/off switch to reduce power consumption in cameras without menu options to control such cards. When the wireless function is turned on, images can be accessed via a web browser, suggesting it offers an HTML server, like Toshiba’s Flash Air cards. There are also dedicated apps for smartphones and tablets. The Class 10 SD cards are available in 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacities.
