Linux: Super COOL 3D Desktop Effects!

While the latest Windows versions offer some decent desktop effects, they certainly cannot compare to what linux can do. This video shows some of those effects in action. Due to time I could not cover the Compiz setting manager in great detail, but it is straightforward and easy to figure out. Show notes: Ubuntu 11.04 users who prefer the classic Ubuntu shell over unity or Linux Mint users can install the following PPA into their sources list to get this STABLE version of Compiz-Fusion. MAKE SURE you completely purge Compiz 0.9.4 from your system before doing so. Info on how to do that is at: www.webupd8.org Here is the PPA ppa:guido-iodice/compiz-0.8.6-natty Ubuntu 11.04 and derivatives do not support the compiz-fusion icon. But a goof up causes Super K to turn out a freak, unable to control his powers and hence deserted by Badmess. Badmess, befriends the evil Dr. Ozox, who has his own sinister plan of taking over Dreamzone. Sheffield Timelapses 2012 — 1080p This was shot over the course of the 2011/2012 academic year, with many hours sat in the good (and bad) weather. I’ve had to cut this project short as the weather hasn’t allowed me to film all the timelapses I wanted and the end of year stress with exams has meant I had to cut down the editing. Overall there were 8371 photos taken, with just over 11.6 hours filming. Shot from 22 locations in and around Sheffield.
