PART I: Stereoscopic Animation And Motion Graphics This tutorial should provide a starting point for establishing a basic stereoscopic workflow in Adobe After Effects. Please note that this is just an exemplary workflow that you are free to modify according to your needs. For instance, “Auto Link Properties” should not generally be turned on, since it causes increased conversion and rendering times. Also, this tutorial is not a comprehensive explanation of the stereo scripts – only very few features are demonstrated. You can download the scripts here: www.pinkau.com

Stereoscopic 3D Terragen Animation – New Stereo Land

10 Jun

To view the 3D in this animation, cross your eyes while looking at the video until a “third” clear 3D image comes into view between the other two. I’ve created a couple of 3D animations out of standard landscapes, however this time I crafted all of the land manually to ensure lots of potential “three dimensional stuff” to fly around. Granted, I still haven’t got the greatest textures or realism… maybe I’ll work on that some other time. (This took about 12 days to render on my crap PC btw… heh… don’t expect another one anytime soon.) The original avi will temporarily be at: www.rubbertoe.com

3D Stereoscopic Test 2 – Successful? – YouTube 3D Feature

05 Jun

Testing 3D feature on YouTube. 3D feature was successfully enabled. (There are still problem with accuracy of 2 images position…) 3D stereoscopic photos by Yo Suzuki (lovemushroom.com) Originally shot in parallel format using Canon dSLR & Loreo 3D stereoscopic lens with no post production position alignment of 2 images. I only have parallel 3D glasses(Loreo) and wondering if it really looks 3D on other viewing system, specially interleave interlace format with active shutter glasses system. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Got no 3D glasses? You can try “Cross-eyed” or “Parallel” viewing method without 3D glasses(free-viewing). www.vision3d.com You can NOT use 3D glasses from Avatar or IMAX theaters to watch this in 3D on computer monitors. They are “Passive Polarized 3D glasses” which usually requires 3D projection system. Stereoscopic Vertigo Zoom

04 Jun

I wanted to know what a vertigo zoom would look like in real 3D… You need to watch it cross eyed, so that the two pictures become one. If you manage to do that, the effect will be amazing. Here is a really cool stereoscopic image I’ve made: ni0n.deviantart.com

AntiVJ LAB – Stereoscopic visuals and Tracking

31 May

Single user installation developped at AntiVJ LAB in Bristol. The system is based on: – a stereoscopic display (similar to the technology used in Imax 3D). 6m x 3.40m – rear projection – a realtime 3D engine, with a dynamic stereoscopic cameras: vvvv (DirectX, GPU optimized) – a face tracking system, using an IR camera. Obviously, you can’t get the 3D (stereoscopic) effect on your computer screen, as the installation as to be experienced in front of the special screen, with polarized glasses. Project developped with support from TSB (Technology Strategy Board) and Pervasive Media studio. More details soon on lab.antivj.com http MUSIC BY: Damien Schneider – Clair Obscure soundcloud.com

My first attempt at a stereoscopic rendering from within Blender. Stare at the animation. Squint/cross your eyes until a 3rd image is created between the two. If you have trouble, try to vary the distance you sit away from the monitor/screen. 😉
