  • Leica M10 real-world sample gallery

    $ (document).ready(function() { SampleGalleryV2({“containerId”:”embeddedSampleGallery_6037658348″,”galleryId”:”6037658348″,”isEmbeddedWidget”:true,”standalone”:false,”selectedImageIndex”:0,”startInCommentsView”:false,”isMobile”:false}) });

    Archaic focusing system, no video mode, no USB socket: the Leica M10 isn’t for everyone (and at $ 6600 body-only is prohibitively expensive), but it’s absolutely lovely. Announced earlier this week, a pre-production unit found its way into our hands. In case you missed it in the excitement of announcements earlier this week, take a look at our first samples from Leica’s newest digital M rangefinder.

  • Got focal range? Canon 24-105mm F4L II Sample Gallery

    We took the updated Canon 24-105mm F4L II out into the elements to put the lens to the test. With a wide focal range, this lens has the potential to be the ultimate walk-around workhorse for many photographers. With that said, the real question is does the update warrant an upgrade for current owners of the previous version? Check out our sample gallery to see for yourself.

  • Canon EF 70-300mm F4-5.6 IS II USM sample gallery

    The Canon 70-300 F4-5.6 IS II USM is a budget-friendly zoom that packs a lot of focal length into a relatively lightweight package. It’s a great option for enthusiasts or travel photographers wanting reach without too much heft.

    Plus, it has built-in image stabilization, a nifty electronic lens information display and is fairly quick-to-focus. We took it to the zoo, and though it was cold and many of the animals were off-exhibit, the lens proved useful enough to capture a few cool creatures.

    A-mount has returned with the a99 II, this time armed with the 42MP BSI CMOS sensor from the a7r II, as well as some tricks of its own. We hit the streets to see how the added tech makes this SLT behave.

  • Canon EF-M 18-150 F3.5-6.3 IS STM real-world sample gallery

    $ (document).ready(function() { SampleGalleryV2({“containerId”:”embeddedSampleGallery_7490072589″,”galleryId”:”7490072589″,”isEmbeddedWidget”:true,”standalone”:false,”selectedImageIndex”:0,”startInCommentsView”:false,”isMobile”:false}) });

    The Canon EF-M 18-150mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM is a travel zoom for the company’s mirrorless cameras. It’s equivalent to 28.8-240mm when attached to an EF-M mount camera, such as the EOS M5 that we used for this gallery. • Canon 16-35mm F2.8L III real-world sample gallery

    The Canon 16-35mm F2.8L II has been one of the most popular and sought after lenses in landscape photography thanks in part to its distinct and gorgeous sunstar. That said, the lens did have its fair share of issues. We took the updated version of the lens out for a spin to get a feel for its performance.

  • Canon EOS M5 real-world sample gallery

    The Canon EOS M5 comes stacked with features many enthuasists look for in a camera: a 24MP sensor with Canon’s Dual Pixel technology, built-in EVF, a tilting touchscreen and 7 fps burst shooting. We’ve been eager to test it ever since its Photokina launch, and have finally gotten our hands on production-ready models. The M5 has gone with us into the kitchen, over the hills and through the snow – and it turns out it can stand up to a little weather. Check out all of our samples via the link below.

  • Venus Laowa 12mm F2.8 Zero-D sample gallery

    Chinese optics company Venus caused a stir when it announced a 12mm F2.8 lens with claims of almost zero rectilinear distortion. The lens is comparably small in its super wide-angle class, and its claims of little barrel distortion are pretty tantalizing. Senior DPR contributor Damien Demolder spent some time getting to know it – check out his images below.

  • Woof! Sony a6500 sample images are here

    Having just wrapped up an action packed two days of photographing Austin with the new Sony a6500, I’ve barely had time to sleep, let alone look through my images (Note: it was a Sony sponsored press trip). One thing’s for sure, this camera is fast and seriously capable! It didn’t take much use to realize it operates like a more refined version of the a6300, though retains some pain points.

    Also, spoiler alert: the touchscreen is a huge let down – it’s simply not very responsive. More on that soon. For now, here’s some samples from the camera, all JPEGs straight out of camera. Once we get Raw support I’ll update the gallery with some conversions.
