VISUAL LIBRARIES – Leave your Mark.
A collaborative, visual project which encourages you to sign out a Visual Library Book and ‘Leave Your Mark’.

A Visual Library Book is whatever you want it to be, a sketchbook, a journal, a diary, a notepad.
You can ‘Leave Your Mark’ in whatever way you want, ranging from drawing, writing, sewing, adding photographs, markings, printing and sticking. How you make your marks is entirely up to you. All we ask is that you have fun with the different themes. Just borrow it on your library card with other books and materials. If you are not already a member, just ask the staff to help you.

45 Visual Library Books have been placed in Portsmouth Central Library and each has its own theme ranging from; Portsmouth, My City, When I Open My Eyes, Whilst I Was Waiting, Love, What’s in My Pocket and Memories. The intention is for you to feel free to explore the Visual Library Books and choose a theme that you like.
In Association with: Rhodia, Seawhite, Portsmouth City Council, University of Portsmouth, COPIC Pens

Working with archival images and texts, the students developed these stories into full fledged audio-visual presentations that were projected onto Pardee Hall. There was also a live music at the event, which took place on May 3, 2011.

SKILL Concept – Project 24 Gymkhana 3.0 (GoPro HD Hero2@120fps)

27 Nov

In this video I went back to my favorite Gymkhana style. The slide from project 11 is back. All captured on my GoPro HD Hero2 camera at 120fps. Check out their website at www.gopro.com I highly recommend this camera to anyone. For best results watch it at 480 resolution. Higher frame rate gave me opportunity for some awesome slow motion. I really love this camera. My favorite setting is 720p at 60fps. Thank you all for watching. Don’t hesitate to send me a message if you wish to talk. You can do so here on the YouTube or come and visit my Facebook page 🙂 www.facebook.com If you like my video, please SUBSCRIBE!!! 13th annual D.U.M.B.O. Art Under the Bridge Festival® (Sept 25 to Sept 27, 2009)
www.dumboartfestival.org/press_release.html

The three-day multi-site neighborhood-wide event is a one-of-a-kind art happening: where serendipity meets the haphazard and where the unpredictable, spontaneous and downright weird thrive. The now teenage D.U.M.B.O. Art Under the Bridge Festival® presents touchable, accessible, and interactive art, on a scale that makes it the nation’s largest urban forum for experimental art.

Art Under the Bridge is an opportunity for young artists to use any medium imaginable to create temporary projects on-the-spot everywhere and anywhere, completely transforming the Dumbo section of Brooklyn, New York, into a vibrant platform for self-expression. In addition to the 80+ projects throughout the historical post-industrial waterfront span, visitors can tour local artists’ studios or check out the indoor video_dumbo, a non-stop program of cutting-edge video art from New York City and around the world.

The Dumbo Arts Center (DAC) has been the exclusive producer of the D.U.M.B.O Art Under the Bridge Festival® since 1997. DAC is a big impact, small non-profit, that in addition to its year-round gallery exhibitions, is committed to preserving Dumbo as a site in New York City where emerging visual artists can experiment in the public domain, while having unprecedented freedom and access to normally off-limit locations.

The Rose Project v2

10 Nov

Ever wonder what would happen to a dozen white roses if you put dye in the water? That was the premise behind this project. I had been told thats how you get blue roses simply take white roses and let them drink in blue water. I thought thatd make a good time-lapse video so I got all the ingredients together and got started. Well, the first attempt at this (done about two months ago and never uploaded) didnt turn out so well. For one, the dye seemed to go straight to the petal edges and then only spotted the rest. I also didnt like the composure, the set-up, and the lighting was insufficient. For v2 I improved what I could: I added better lighting, used a black background, and went from taking a frame every 60 seconds to every 75 seconds. I could not, however, improve the way the dye fed into the flowers. Here are the details: Total frames: 2936* Interval: 75 sec. Total Span: 2 days, 13 hours, 10 minutes Frames per second: 30, however video was later compressed to shorten and therefore youre probably seeing closer to 50 frames/second; or, to put it another way, for every 1 second of this video equates to about 1 hour of elapsed time. Unlike v1, I let the flowers sit in normal water for the first 4 hours before adding blue dye to the water (so at about 4 seconds into this video youll see the water turn blue). Then I let the blue dye take hold over the course of the next 24 hours. To spruce things up a bit, I then added yellow dye to the mix to get you guessed it the water
