Metabones introduces Speed Booster XL 0.64x for Panasonic GH4

Metabones has announced a new Speed Booster designed for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH4. The Speed Booster XL 0.64x is designed to reduce the camera’s 2x crop factor by 0.64x, meaning that in 4K video mode the GH4’s 2.34x crop factor becomes 1.50x – Super 35 cine format. Read more

Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7 real-world samples

Over the holiday weekend we spent some time shooting with Panasonic’s newest mirrorless camera, the Lumix DMC-G7. We put its new 16MP sensor to the test along with an improved AF system at the racetrack – the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, to be precise. Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7 offers 4K video

Panasonic has announced the Lumix DMC-G7, updating its mid-range mirrorless line with 4K (30p/24p) video and still recording and some slight spec upgrades across the board. It offers a built-in 2,360k-dot OLED viewfinder, fully articulated 3″ 1,040k-dot LCD, improved autofocus speeds, 8 fps burst shooting (6 fps with continuous AF) as well as Wi-Fi connectivity. Read more

Hands-on with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7 improves on its predecessor the G6 with a newer sensor, 2.36 million-dot electronic viewfinder and improved autofocus – plus this year’s must-have feature: 4K video. Apple Digital Camera Raw 6.04 extends support to Canon EOS 5DS / 5DS R and Panasonic CM1

Apple has extended system-wide Raw support for 14 additional cameras, including Canon’s newest flagship DSLRs. Digital Camera Raw 6.04 also brings Raw support to OS X Yosemite for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-CM1 smartphone, Nikon D7200 and Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II among others. Read more

Panasonic Lumix DMC-CM1 real-world sample gallery posted

Panasonic’s Lumix CM1 has the potential to break new ground in the territory between smartphones and cameras. It offers a 1-inch 20MP sensor, much larger than the typical smartphone camera chip. It also provides an F2.8 Leica-branded lens encircled by a control ring that can be used to adjust various exposure settings. We got out and about with it to see what its images look like. Panasonic DMC-GH4 firmware v2.2 brings 4:3 shooting for anamorphic shooters

14 Apr

Panasonic has announced firmware v2.2 for the GH4 to make it easier to use anamorphic lenses with the camera. The new anamorphic mode allows the camera to capture video from a 4:3 aspect ratio chunk from the middle of the sensor to match the projection of specialist lenses, allowing genuine anamorphic capture, rather than digital simulation of the look.
