We’ve never accused Sigma of lacking innovation, and while the Japanese manufacturer is best known for making lenses, Sigma also markets a line of cameras. The latest – the DP2 Quattro – features an all-new ~19.6 million pixel APC-C Foveon sensor and a completely new body design. Is this (in Sigma’s words) a ‘reinvention of camera’? We won’t know until we’ve tried one out, but in the meantime click through for an initial hands-on look.

Among the cameras launched at this year’s CES were a handful from JK Imaging, a worldwide licensee for Kodak ‘PIXPRO’ digital cameras and lenses. JK doesn’t have a booth at the show, but we visited them in a hotel suite for a briefing and some hands-on time with the new S1 Micro Four Thirds camera, and the company’s two new ‘Smart Lens’ camera modules. CES 2014: Earlier today Nikon announced its new D3300 entry-level DSLR, along with a collapsable F3.5-5.6 18-55mm kit lens and FX-format F1.8 35mm prime. We were able to get our hands on all three, and have put together a quick slideshow that you’ll find after the link.

We’ve had a chance to spend some time with Nikon’s retro Df digital SLR. This full-frame camera, which is designed to resemble Nikon’s classic manual focus film SLRs, is loaded with dials for virtually every function imaginable, and is backward compatible with nearly every Nikon F-mount lens ever made. The Stylus 1 is Olympus’s latest high-end compact camera. With ‘mini-DSLR’ styling and a constant-aperture F2.8 28-300mm (equivalent) zoom lens, the 12MP Stylus 1 has a lot to offer the amateur and enthusiast photographer.
