Ricoh GR III sample gallery

Ricoh’s long-awaited 24MP GR III is finally shipping, and we’ve been shooting with a production sample for a few days to see how it performs. The GR III is a major update to the APS-C GR series, offering a higher-resolution sensor, a redesigned 28mm equiv. lens, in-body image stabilization and a hybrid AF system, among other refinements. In the process, Ricoh has shaved off a few of the GR II’s external controls and deleted the built-in flash.

We just got our hands on the new Pentax 11-18mm F2.8 DA* – a premium wide-angle zoom lens for Ricoh’s APS-C format Pentax DSLRs. Tough and weather-sealed, the 11-18mm is intended to satisfy the needs of Pentax users who want to go wide without going full-frame.

Sample gallery: Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 DG OS HSM Sport

We’ve been shooting a lot with Sigma’s redesigned 70-200mm F2.8 Sport lens and initial impressions are positive: it appears nice and sharp throughout the zoom range and proved quick to focus on the Canon 5DS R and EOS R. However at 1805g it’s certainly not a lightweight lens. Do the images make up for the awkward handling? Judge for yourself in our gallery of real-world samples.

Panasonic Lumix DC-G95/G90 pre-production sample gallery

We’ve spent some time shooting with a pre-production Panasonic Lumix DC-G95 (G90) in a variety of situations, and we’ve put together a gallery so you can evaluate its image quality.

We’ll have a gallery with a production-level camera online as soon as we get one, but in the meantime, take a look at our initial samples!

The Sigma 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 Sport is quite the beast, and will likely appeal to those looking to photograph wildlife, airshows and all manner of distant subjects. We’ve discovered that it’s actually quite a handy lens for casual, everyday shooting – if you’d like your photographic pursuit to double as an upper body workout. Panasonic Lumix S1 sample gallery

We’ve been getting a feel for Panasonic’s full-frame mirrorless cameras for a little while now, but only recently received final production firmware for the S1 and its high-resolution sibling, the S1R. Take a look through our first images shot with final firmware and see how it handles a variety of scenarios.

Fujifilm GF 100-200mm F5.6 sample gallery

The Fujifilm GF 100-200mm F5.6 covers a 79-158mm equivalent range when attached to a GFX medium-format camera. It’s the longest zoom option available for the GF system, counting both current lenses and those on the roadmap. Coupled with a GFX camera it’s not exactly the most portable option, but we endeavored to bring it along on some snowy walks and trips to the waterfront anyhow.

Ricoh GR III sample gallery updated

We spent a little more time with the Ricoh GR III out and about in Yokohama, updating our initial sample gallery to a total of over 50 images. Take a look at some additional out-of-camera JPEGs and converted Raw files from the GR line’s much-awaited successor.

Leica Q2 sample gallery

The Leica Q2 has arrived on the scene and we’ve been busy pointing its 47MP full-frame sensor and 28mm F1.7 Summilux stabilized lens at as many subjects as possible. Initial impressions of image quality suggest excellent detail and ISO performance, with impressive edge-to-edge sharpness from the lens. But we’re less than impressed with default JPEG color, so we included a lot of Raw conversions. Have a look…

Canon EOS RP added to studio test scene comparison, sample gallery updated

The Canon EOS RP is an impressively small camera considering the large full-frame sensor inside. That sensor gives you 26MP of resolution, and is closely related to the unit in Canon’s existing EOS 6D II DSLR. We’ve had it out and about for some sunshine and soul music in Seattle, and have also put it in front of our test scene to see what it can do. Take a peek through our updated sample gallery and around our studio scene to see how Canon’s new baby full framer fares.
