Samsung Galaxy Note 4 camera review

The Note 4 is the latest iteration of Samsung’s top-end line of so-called ‘phablets’. In terms of design the new model is very close to its predecessor, the Galaxy Note 3, but under the hood, things have been upgraded significantly. A 1/2.6-inch 16MP BSI CMOS image sensor and F2.2 maximum aperture are shared with the Galaxy S5 but the Note 4 has gained an optical image stabilization system which makes it the first Samsung smartphone with this feature. Read our full review at connect.dpreview.com

The Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 is the second iteration of that manufacturer’s ultra-connected camera running full Android OS. It’s a 16MP camera with a 23-483mm equivalent lens that also happens to run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, though it lacks the 3G/4G connectivity of its predecessor and offers only Wi-Fi. Samsung introduces Galaxy Note 4 phablet with OIS

Samsung has announced the latest iteration of its top-of-the-line phablet, the Galaxy Note 4, at simultaneous events in New York and Berlin today. In terms of design the new model is very close to its predecessor, the Galaxy Note 3, but the big news about the Note 4’s 16MP camera is its optical image stabilization system – making it the first Samsung smartphone to offer this feature. Read more

Samsung announces Galaxy Alpha with metal body and 12MP camera

Samsung has announced the Galaxy Alpha – the first Galaxy smartphone with a metal frame. With its 4.7-inch 720p AMOLED screen the Galaxy Alpha is similar in dimensions to the Galaxy S5 Mini but 6.7mm thinner. The device comes with a 12MP rear camera which is unusual in that no other current high-end Samsung offers this sort of megapixel-count but no information on sensor size and technology is currently available.

Samung Galaxy S4 Zoom gets Android 4.4 KitKat update

The Galaxy S4 Zoom, Samsung’s first attempt to fit a zoom lens into an Android-powered smartphone-style body, is getting an update with the latest Android version: 4.4 KitKat. The new software version will give S4 Zoom users access to the KitKat improvements which include faster performance, a redesigned status bar, wireless printing support, full-screen album art in the media player and a camera shortcut on the lockscreen. We’ve come to expect loads of camera features from Samsung’s high end smartphones and the Galaxy S5 does not come up short. The S5 offers a 16MP BSI CMOS sensor, F2.2 lens and 4K video recording. With claims of improved AF speeds and the addition of features like real-time HDR processing and Selective Focus, Samsung’s flagship device has a lot of potential as a photographic tool. Samsung reveals super-thin and high-resolution Galaxy S tablets

Samsung has launched two new high-end tablets. The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and 10.5 have very similar specifications and mainly differ in screen size. Both devices offer high-resolution SuperAMOLED displays with 2560×1600 pixels. DxOMark Mobile report: Samsung Galaxy S5 shares top spot

The Galaxy S5 is Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone and successor to the Galaxy S4. It comes with a 16MP BSI CMOS sensor, an F2.2 maximum aperture, 4K video capture and phase detection AF, but has to make do without an optical image stabilization system. That doesn’t hold it back much – DxOMark’s Mobile report gives its image quality full marks, making it a joint leader in their rankings with the Sony Xperia Z2. Learn more
