DxOMark Mobile report: Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+

DxOMark has completed its full mobile report into the Samsung Galaxy S6 smartphone’s camera. With a DxOMark Mobile score of 87 the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ just snatches the smartphone camera crown from the Sony Xperia Z5 and places itself on top of the DxOMark smartphone rankings.

Samsung Galaxy S7 rumored to come with 1/2-inch 12MP sensor

We’ve all witnessed the megapixel race in digital cameras and, just a few years later, the trend has caught on in the smartphone camera sector. Lately though, manufacturers seem to putting more of an emphasis on low light performance. This may be the case with the newest Samsung Galaxy device, expected to launch in early 2016, which is rumored to use a 1/2-inch 12MP imager. Read more

Samsung launches enormous 18.4-inch Galaxy View tablet

With smartphone screens growing larger and nearing what used to be tablet territory, it’s probably natural that the latter are increasing screen size as well. Apple launched the 12.9-inch iPad Pro in September and now Samsung, which already has the 12.2-inch Galaxy Tab Pro in its line-up, has gone one step further and launched the gigantic Galaxy View with an 18.4-inch display. Samsung launches Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+

Samsung has today announced two new smartphones in its mobile device line-up. With their large 5.7-inch screens the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+ both qualify as phablets and share most components, including camera hardware borrowed from the Galaxy S6. Read more

Samsung launches thin and lightweight Galaxy Tab S2 tablets

Samsung has launched a new generation of high-end Android tablets, a clear competitor to Apple’s iPad Air 2. The Galaxy Tab S2 comes 8 and 9.7 inch display sizes, and at 5.6mm is a touch thinner than the Apple competitor. Read more

Samsung Galaxy S6 / S6 Edge camera review

Samsung launches rugged Galaxy S6 Active

Samsung has launched a rugged version of its flagship Galaxy S6, the S6 Active. The device is exclusively available from AT&T in the US and has a similar specification to the standard S6. In the camera department the S6 Active comes with the same 16MP resolution on the back and 5MP at the front as the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, but there is no talk of an optical image stabilization system. Samsung Galaxy S6 units found to be using different image sensors

When the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge were launched earlier this year there was no talk of the ISOCELL technology previously used by the Galaxy S5’s and Note 4’s in-house image sensors, so it was believed the 16MP 1/2.6 CMOS chip in the S6 was provided by Sony. However, rumors have emerged that in some units Samsung sensors are used instead of the Sony variant, and a company spokesperson has confirmed that different sensors are used. Read more
