In use: Panasonic Post Focus after-capture focus selection feature

As announced on Friday, Panasonic has just released new firmware that enables a post-capture refocusing feature in some of its cameras that run 4K video on a Micro Four Thirds sensor. We got hold of a pre-release copy of the firmware and have been able to try it out on the Lumix DMC-GX8 body. Read more

Panasonic’s Post Focus feature arrives November 25

In July, Panasonic revealed plans to launch a feature it calls Post Focus for select camera models via a firmware update. Panasonic today announced that firmware update will be available via the Lumix Global website on November 25. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX8, DMC-G7, and DMC-FZ330 will be supported. Read more

5 Tips for Using the Blend If Feature in Photoshop

In this video Blake Rudis, from EverydayHDR, shows five really useful tips for using the Blend If feature, which is available in Photoshop when working with layers.

The five methods for using Blend If:

  1. Adding sharpness to your image
  2. Removing noise
  3. Adding saturation
  4. Vignetting
  5. Adding a texture to your photo

Using the Blend If sliders allow you to really control where you want the affects to apply, without complicated masking and brushing in and out details. Give it a try, it may save you a ton of time editing!

Canon’s new Connect Station will feature wireless charging, support 4k video

Canon unveiled its next generation Connection Station this week at Canon Expo 2015 in New York. The new model is similar to the original CS100, first introduced at CES earlier this year, but with the addition of two new big features: wireless charging and support for 4K playback. Read more

GoPro adds Trim + Share feature to mobile app

GoPro has added a Trim and Share feature to its mobile app and some of its camera models, allowing users to pull short clips from video footage and share the finalized video. The feature is available now in the latest version of the GoPro mobile app, and is offered on the HERO4 Black + LCD BacPac, HERO4 Silver, and the HERO+ LCD. Read more

Fujifilm X100T successor rumored to feature new lens

According to a source speaking with Fuji Rumors, the Fujifilm X100T’s successor will have a new lens. The present lineup of X100 cameras all feature the same fixed 23mm F2 lens, and if past announcement intervals are any indication, the X100 series may see an update just around the corner. Read more

Feature film shot on iPhone 5 coming to cinemas

Tangerine, a feature film by Sean Baker, is headed for theaters on July 10th. It was shot entirely on the iPhone 5, keeping the overall budget of the film under $ 100,000, and the production utilized anamorphic adapter prototypes for shooting. Read more

Ricoh GR II adds Wi-Fi and not much else to GR feature set

Ricoh has announced the GR II, an update to its APS-C enthusiast compact. It maintains essentially all of the original GR’s specifications, including a 16MP sensor and 28mm F2.8 lens, but adds Wi-Fi to the feature set. Read more

Adobe Camera Raw 9.1 adds Dehaze feature and improves X-Trans support

Adobe has released the latest iterations of its Camera Raw plug-in and DNG converter software. In addition to adding support for more cameras and lenses, this update also adds Dehaze correction as well as local B&W adjustment sliders. Adobe has also reduced ‘color blur’ artifacts in Raw images from Fujifilm X-Trans cameras. More details
