Adobe has announced a number of updates to its Creative Cloud suite, including some feature enhancements and additions to Photoshop CC and Lightroom CC. A previously demonstrated de-haze tool has been added to CC versions of Photoshop and Lightroom, and the effects of Photoshop’s popular healing brush will now be displayed in real time as the tool is used. Lytro software update introduces Focus Spread feature
Lytro’s processing software just received a significant update. Lytro Desktop 4.1 provides some additional features for users of the Illum light field camera, including Focus Spread, which allows photographers to pick beginning and ending points for depth of focus. Learn more

DxO Labs introduces OpticsPro 10 with atmospheric haze correction feature
DxO has taken the wraps off its OpticsPro 10, the latest software version that brings with it, among other things, DxO ClearView for correcting atmospheric haze. Joining the new feature are some improvements to the software, not the least of which is enhanced noise reduction promised to trump competing products, as well as interface changes. Read more

New Apple iPhones feature phase-detection AF and larger sensors
Last week saw a slew of new Android and Windows Phone devices launched at IFA in Berlin, and today it was Apple’s turn. The company has announced two new smartphones – the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 ‘Plus’ which feature new 8MP imaging sensors with phase-detection autofocus and (in the case of the iPhone 6 Plus) optical image stabilization. Adobe announces new ‘Focus masks’ feature in CC update
Following last week’s video teasing the release of a new feature coming to Photoshop CC, Adobe has made the update official. In addition to the ‘Focus Masks’ feature that we already knew about, today’s official announcement brings a host of mostly minor new features including new blur effects, updates to content aware fill, and improvements to tools like smart guides. Adobe teases new ‘Focus masks’ feature
Adobe has released a video sneak-peek of a new feature due to be introduced into Creative Cloud which the company is calling ‘Focus masks’. In the video, Zorana Gee, senior Photoshop product manager explains that with focus masks, Adobe is ‘adding a new way to make an automatic selection based [on] pixels that are in focus versus out of focus’. Updated HTC Gallery app offers adjustable UFocus feature
One of the most talked about new features of the HTC’s latest flagship smartphone, the One M8, is the Duo Camera. Using the primary camera and a second sensor to create a shallow depth-of-field effect, the Duo Cam produced less-than-perfect results in our testing.
