Consoul (Lasse Gjertsen 2009)

22 Feb

Youtube aka Google finally decided to extend their 10 minute limit to compete with Hulu, and I can finally upload the film that I might consider my best work yet, and definitely my most personal film. It is my first real professional short, and was produced by Alligator AS in Bergen, Norway. It is basically my first attempt of videographic shamanism. It is a story about a persons life and death told in 8-bits video game graphics. I made it in about half a year together with my best friend Trygve Knudsen, who made the 3D-sequences. I made all the 8-bit-shit 🙂 We worked on and off with it from February 2008 and completed it in January 2009. It has been screened at a bunch of film festivals all over the planet, and is originally made for 35mm film with surround sound (kicks in during the 3D-sequences). Therefore it might be perceived as being a bit sloooow, but fuck you and your internet attention span in that case :p The 8-bit stuff is designed in Photoshop and animated with After Effects. I downloaded emulators for Amiga, Sega, Nintendo and so forth and had to play a shit load of games to look at the graphics and game play for inspiration. It was pretty sweet to get paid for that 🙂 The music is composed with FL Studio. There are a lot of references to people and movies, and not to mention; video games, that have contributed inspiration wise, and if you turn on annotations, you’ll get it all revealed 🙂 You can download a shortened version of the soundtrack from www.nrk

Rusty Nelson 2009 1 of 4

09 Nov

Rusty Nelson, former Franklin photographer, tells horrific tales of life as a political prisoner, including false charges as a sex offender, forced injections, massive drugging, and sleep deprivation. The full 1hr 43min interview available at freerangehumans.net gives a complete tour of the farm house which was violently raided to steal the evidence which would have set him free, and includes a photograph of the dapper, young Rusty in a leather tuxedo. All footage constitutes fair use.

See all 11 parts!!! Arguably the most intelligently written film to feature the masterful stop-motion animation of Ray Harryhausen, Jason and the Argonauts is a colorful adventure that takes full advantage of Harryhausen’s “Dynarama” process. Inspired by the Greek myth, the story begins when the fearless explorer Jason (Todd Armstrong) returns to the kingdom of Thessaly to make his rightful claim to the throne, but the gods proclaim that he must first find the magical Golden Fleece. Consulting Hera, the queen of gods, Jason recruits the brave Argonauts to crew his ship, and they embark on their eventful journey. Along the way they encounter a variety of mythic creatures, including the 100-foot bronze god Talos, the batlike Harpies, the seven-headed reptilian Hydra, and an army of skeletons wielding sword and shield. This last sequence remains one of the finest that Harryhausen ever created, and it’s still as thrilling as anything from the age of digital special effects. Harryhausen was the true auteur of his fantasy films, and his brilliant animation evokes a timeless sense of wonder. Jason and the Argonauts is a prime showcase for Harryhausen’s talent–a wondrous product of pure imagination and filmmaking ingenuity.

2009 Female Impersonator of the Year Pageant ~ Photography & Videography by Antonio Cassone

06 Sep

A slideshow/video of the annual Female Impersonator of the Year Pageant with Photography and Video by Antonio Cassone. The event is hosted annually in association with Monkey Business. Don’t want to give too much away – EDITOR’S NOTE – Disregard the score credit – I had to swap the audio due to a glitch in my editing software (another thing I am working on…lol, but thankfully not due to the normal reason we have to swap songs…just kidding I wanted it to be a smooth sound straight through) – Enjoy & Congrats to all the contestants and entertainers involved – it was a great show. Feel free to visit www.antoniocassone.blogspot.com and http to see and hear more works by Cassone and you can also now follow Cassone at Twitter twitter.com – Thanks!
