Volvo Cars present the world’s first diesel plug-in hybrid, the new V60 Plug-in Hybrid. This car combines the best properties from three different car types into one by simply pressing a button. The car becomes an electric car with a range of up to 50 kilometres (Pure mode) or a high-efficiency hybrid with carbon dioxide emissions averaging just 49 g/km (Hybrid mode) or a muscular fun-to-drive car with a combined output of 215 + 70 horsepower, 440 + 200 Nm of torque and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h of just 6.9 seconds (Power mode). The majority of all European car drivers cover less than 50 km a day, for instance to and from work. On longer trips, the diesel engine is activated automatically, giving the car the same properties and range as a conventional hybrid. The Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid will reach the showrooms 2012.

We need develop a new energy/technology and get it in mass production fast, as we are running out of oil quickly and without oil you get no diesel or petrol and with bio fuels us humans have no food due to land being used for fuel and not food! Hybrids are good but not future proof

Actually, the design, and all the previous workers are still in sweden. Volvo haven’t fired any people in sweden since it was sold.
Also, all the engineers are still working for Volvo in sweden, not the chinese.
They just own it, and massproduce it in Asia.
Volvo still produce it locally with swedish factoryworkers if you buy it in Sweden.
I like this car unfortunately The usa will never allow this car in the our country because the oil companies will pay them not to allow it in to our country .
the trend lately seems to be putting as little glass on cars today as possible. Most cars today have horrible visibility. The beltlines of cars have been risen a ton too.
its stupid too because these diesels put out less emissions per 100 miles since they use less fuel to do so. The source of most of these dumb laws is California. I think a ton of people would buy the diesel wrangler they sell in Europe that gets 28 mpg in the city compared to ours that gets just 17 on the gas version. Chrysler wants to bring it over too but its going to end up expensive and a low seller because of all the expensive diesel emission crap they’ll have to install.
its not the sale of foreign cars either. Ford, GM, and chrysler make a lot of great diesel engines for the european markets. Unfortunately our stupid emissions laws ban engines that aren’t actually any more dirty than other engines. The diesel engines we do get have to have to ridiculously expensive emissions equipment that also kills the fuel economy. Its actually very counter productive. Theres a diesel wrangler Jeep sells in europe that gets 28 mpg city mileage. Gas gets 16 city.
