The a $40 San Disk eye-fi card works the same way (i.e. ad Hoc connection between SD-card and iPad without using a wifi-connected computer). There is also a free eye-fi app that does the same thing as the 12$ ShutterSnitch!

This video is a bit outdated. You no longer need to jailbreak your iOS devices to do direct-connect (the Eye-Fi X2 cards create a network that the iDevice can connect to). You also don’t need the pro card for direct connect. The cheapest one will do that.

Great video and discussion. I made this blog post to some of these same questions.

This whole thing definitely becomes more viable with the new Eye-Fi card comgin out recently.

yeh i think you r right you create a hotspot with your iphone and connect your ipad to it

    February 13, 2013 at 5:29 am

I don`t think you need to jailbreak anymore!?! As with the never IOS 5 and IOS 6 update you can make a wireless network on iPhone and iPad for other devices to connect to, amongst other things to get a 3G connection etc…

What do you think? Can you do this without jailbreaking now?

Btw AWESOME VIDEO! Cool in every aspect, your presentation, scenery, shooting and editing. Just awesome!

Do the photos appear in the iOS photos app or will they only be in the Eye-Fi app? Also does the wifi in the card affect your cameras battery life?

i kind of agree with this. I also noticed that Adorama does seem to just expect everyone has a fortune to spend on equipment. They always start off great with learning basics about photography. But then when they go to the next step, its like they leap frog into a whole new category and just leave beginners into photography in the dust. Example like, “ Ok, where is how we use a HDSLR… got it? Ok now lets go to our STUDIO, and show the $5000+ budget we use” haha..

its funny that these videos are supposed to help HDSLR users who want to learn how to get into video shooting.. but all this equipment range in the $600-$2000 range.. the cheapest one you talked about is $127 but the equipment with it you recommend can go up to $650.. i have no idea if adorama is trying to make a sale or is just saying you cant shoot good video w/o these things. .. once again adorama breaks into a specific demographic and cancels a whole one out. this can discourage beginners
