TheRecoveringBanker.com | Nic Coventry | The Recovering Banker I’m going to be buying this Canon T3i, hopefully this week, and I’d like to have you check out this video and let me know what you think… The T3 is only 0 bucks, but it only shoots 720p and it doesn’t have the flip out screen. The t3i shoots 18 megapixed pictures, and it also shoots 1080p video. It also has the flipout lcd screen. — Canon has unveiled the Rebel T3i (EOS 600D) upper entry-level DSLR. It continues to use the 18MP CMOS sensor seen in the Rebel T2i (550D) but gains a tilt and swivel 1040k dot LCD monitor like the one offered on the more expensive 60D. It also gains the ability to remotely control flashguns using its internal flash, a feature previously only featured on higher-end models. Alongside the camera, Canon is also launching the 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 IS II, a cosmetically revised version of its optically stabilized kit lens. We’ve had a chance to use pre-production versions of both and have prepared a Hands-On Preview of the EOS 600D including beta samples gallery. Canon announces the launch of the EOS 600D — a compact, lightweight Digital SLR (DSLR) that makes capturing exciting, fun and creative images easier than ever. The perfect choice for aspiring photographers looking for a combination of outstanding image quality and ease-of-use, the EOS 600D sits at the top of Canon’s entry-level EOS line-up, above the existing EOS 550D and the new EOS 1100D. Capturing stunning images and Full …

A few modifications to the GigaPan Epic 100 robotic imager improve its function with large lenses, heavy cameras, and long exposure times. Also, a new battery holder system is described. See gigapans made with this system here: gigapan.org

So you decided to remove the RUDE comment, thanks.
I agree, this is THE WORST review/comparison I’ve done yet. I’d pull it down, but the views just keep rolling in, haha. Thanks for the comment, although no one else know’s what it said, except me.

I Can see how it might be a “little” confusing, but don’t bitch about your stupidity 16blank45, LOL.
T3 is a waste of money in my opinion, and now that I own the T3i I regret not waiting a couple more months to get the 60D, it has Auto Focus in Video, which the Rebel Series’ do not (T3i & T3)
That feature alone, for my use, would be worth the extra $200-300.
I bought my T3i for Video primarily, but like having an 18MP SLR as well. With the convenience SLR…

I thought this was about the T3i AND the T3. Instead it is about the T3i. There is no comparison made between them, although there is a comparison made between the T3i & 60D.
Bad review my friend. By the way, I bought the T3. Beginner’s camera and all, although I am not new to photography.

Sweet. I wish I would have gotten a 60D for the AutoFocus in Video mode. Big mistake, I didn’t know.

Oh, I don’t know how to do that, haha. I’m pretty new to SLR’s and I don’t have a ton of time to learn them yet. I’ll look into that if I get a chance. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah i understand. You might want to lower the aperture so you get a wider focus range. that way you won’t need to adjust it as much.

I use that, but if the camera isn’t with in Arms Reach, I can’t adjust the focus unless I get up, but once I get up, I can’t see where to focus the camera, do you see what I’m saying?
I guess I could get an external monitor for it or something…

The CHDK software requires a 3vdc or a 4.5vdc (depending on the Canon used) input voltage to focus and set exposure and the dropping of this voltage triggers the shutter (s). One simply uses a battery pack and a momentary switch (press, hold, release), attached to a USB mini[B (camera connector).
Does anyone know what voltages and events occur when the controller energizes the button pusher? It’s likely that the button pusher could be entirely eliminated using CHDK and a voltage controller.

I am sure that is possible, and would be a great advance. You will probably have to 1) make your own cable, 2) figure out if the signal sent by your Epic is safe for the camera USB port, and 3) maybe write a script for CHDK to interpret that signal and release the shutter. It has been done before with certain versions of Gigapans, and you might be able to find more info out there.

Is it possible to remove mechanic push button?
I have a Canon SX30IS with CDHK firmware so i could use a USB remote cable instead of this.

Looks like I’ll have to go with the Epic Pro if I want to use my SLR. My lenses are too big around.
