This week is the second episode in a four-part series about metering. In this episode, Mark will explain exposure compensation. He will also demonstrate this and show us how to use it correctly.

God she’s sexy…..

Great stuff from the best teacher I’ve seen.
Great video. As a new guy to this, I do more in LightRoom to adjust/correct exposure…and shoot everything in RAW to help with that
Awesome tutorial! This really helped me understand the concepts. Your videos rock. Thanks!
try to study the exposure triangle first so you could be able to adjust your settings time to time….
Oh and I had the dial to no flash, I haven’t been able to remember the manual stuff yet and we were loosing daylight fast so I couldn’t really sit back and fiddle with things to see what’s what.
Hey I have a Nikon D3100 beginner photographer trying to teach myself and watch your videos, but I was wondering, I just took outdoor bridal pictures of my sister and parts of her dress are SO white no folding or detail is showing up. Its was an overcast day I wasn’t using the flash cuz when I did it would make everything darker, I was using a 55mm-200mm lens. I’m frustrated cuz it was a beautiful fall shoot in the mountains but her dress in the pictures look like she’s 2D sheet of white. 🙁
good explanation! Demonstration is very helpful.
Depth of Field and Lens effects.

A part of me feels like EC is almost pointless when you can change the settings for your exposure on your own in a couple of different ways and still achieve the same desired result.
Thanks great
I watched the whole video in confusion to what EC is, that right at the last second he said, EC is the same as changing shutter or aperture in manual mode.
Hi… How come if I get the right exposure… when I dial my exposure compensation up (+) the light meter in my camera goes down (-) is that normal?
+2 clear -1 dark for background ! but if model white clothes black background – or + ?
model black clothes white background + or – ?
thanks .
I WAS WONDERING IF YOU WAS SHOOTING A WEDDING PORTRAIT OF A FAMILY WOULD YOU USE MORE EXPOSURE COMPOSITION TO + OR – EXPOSURE COMPOSITION ON YOUR CAMERA
Thanks a lot for the tips.
well yes and no, if your pictures are overexposed, you can either under expose your metering to the negative side. Also you can change your exposure to go over or under by changing your aperature or shutter speed as the video indicated. I hope this helps
Great help for me.. thank you! You’re the best!
Very*
This is bet complicated to me. When I have an overexposed picture, I just bump up the shutter speed. Hmmm
man, this is complicated. can you just shoot in manual and adjust shutter speed.
hi mark, in this episode you get the background darker fine, but it still looks like a black pair of curtains full of creases. could you do the same pic but have the black backgroung look BLACK !. as in low key ?. thank you very much
sorry for white balance…?
Mark can we use a half part white and a half part black picture for metering correct?
Simply Stunning

amazing..
I would give anything to have been there the night you shot this… Magical. Absolutely magical.
Every time I watch this, it helps me develope the bigger picture of live. It’s not about jobs, money, and everthing modern society has taught us to think. It’s about our world, and the universe. How little of a roll we really play. This video simply leaves me without words to express how truly awesome life really is.
This movie acctualy almost made me cry. So beautiful and deep in such an inamaginable way. One step closer in realizing how small we really are.
Wow, that was amazing… beautiful!
This music is beautiful.

Superb work.
Everytime i need to relax now I know what to do. People should stop moving so fast and stop a while, looking outside and breathing the air nature gives us. Nature is the most beautiful thing on earth.
