  • Chainfire creates Android tethered control app for Canon DSLRs

App developer Chainfire has created a program for tethered shooting of Canon DSLRs using Android 3.0-powered tablets. Its ‘DSLR Controller’ app uses a USB connection to provide a high level of control over Canon DSLRs. In addition to Android 3.0 (also known as Honeycomb) tablets, DSLR Controller can also be used on Samsung’s Galaxy S2 smartphone. Beta version 0.5 of the app is currently available for around $ 8.50 from the Android Market and offers a wide range of control options, including touch focus, histogram, bulb capture and the ability to change many of the camera’s shooting settings. Additional functions, including time lapse, video recording and image playback are still being worked-on. Chainfire says it plans to provide Nikon support once the Canon features are complete. • A night with JD

We sat.  We ate.  We talked. And best of all, we took pictures.

I no longer even recognize the work I was shooting six months ago… it doesn’t even feel like it was me.  This feels… better.

    I hope you agree.

  • Racetrack by Starlight – Death Valley National Park

The racetrack in Death Valley National Park is a place that always leaves me in awe of nature. The tracks left behind stones on this dry lake bed have a mysterious magical quality to them and even more so at night. Photographed on the same evening as Racetrack Light Lasso and Racetrack Light Lasso II, in this version of the scene I took a less radical image to highlight the natural beauty of the stone and lake bed.

I’m looking forward to returning to the Racetrack later this year on my next photo tour. This particular photo tour in October is booked, but if you’re interested in joining me to this amazing location on my next Death Valley photo tour get on the waiting list via my contact form. I’ll be announcing my next Death Valley dates in the coming weeks.

  • Second Shoot with Brenna

Four years ago I met Brenna for the first time, it was quick, I photographed her final look at a fashion show for the fabulous Jared Gold.

Then, she came to my house for a shoot… turns out neither of us realized we’d met before.  An odd coincidence in a small world.  I love those.
