UPDATE: Following the provision of Beta raw support from Adobe, we’ve updated our previously published studio samples from the Samsung NX200 to include raw files. Also, we’ve recently got our hands on Samsung’s new NX 60mm F2.8 Macro ED OIS SSA and we’ve taken the opportunity to replace our existing samples with a completely new set, taken on the newer lens. In future, the 60mm macro will become our standard studio lens for the Samsung NX system.

We have just updated our previously posted samples gallery from the Sony Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* E 24mm F1.8 ZA. Our previous gallery was shot exclusively using the NEX-7 but these latest samples were shot with the NEX-5N. Together, these samples should give you a good overall indication of how the lens performs in front of both 24MP and 16MP sensors. As usual we’ve tried to shoot the lens in a variety of conditions and at a variety of apertures to give an idea about how it behaves.

Updated: Panasonic DMC-FZ150 studio samples re-shot

Just posted: Updated Panasonic DMC-FZ150 studio comparison shots. We’ve just re-shot our standard studio test scene with the latest firmware (1.0), and these are now in the comparison tool. During the process, we were able to compare the improvements made between the pre-production image output from firmware v0.2 and the final, consumer-ready quality. As well as updating the samples, we’ve made a demonstration of the difference – click for more.

Sony announcements: content updated

Sony content updated. In the light of the level of interest in Sony’s latest launches, we’ve gone back and added more information to much of our content. Now our servers have cooled down a bit, we’ve gone back and, in response to the questions you’ve been asking, we’ve updated our coverage. Most noticeably, we’ve added some 1080p60 movie samples to the A77 preview. We’ve also added improved illustrations to our NEX-7 first look to make it easier to see how the control system is going to work.

Just updated: Features added to ‘For Sale and Wanted’ forum. It’s been three weeks since we introduced the long-requested For Sale forum and, at launch, we said we’d add features to improve the experience, if it was popular. Well it’s been a big success, so we’ve developed a range of special features specifically to make the forum more useful and easier to use. Not only have we added the ability to withdraw or close threads (and an option for hiding closed threads), we’ve also created a feedback system that allows buyers and sellers to rate one another.

Olympus E-P3 samples gallery updated with revised settings

We’ve added three additional images to our samples gallery for the Olympus E-P3 with revised processing. Following concerns expressed about the levels of noise reduction and sharpening being applied by the camera’s default settings, we have re-processed the images with the sharpening and noise reduction minimized. Having confirmed that re-processing raw files in-camera gave the same results as shooting natively at these settings, we re-processed three of our gallery images to allow side-by-side comparison with the default settings.

Just Posted: our revised Fujifilm X100 review. Amongst the changes listed in Fujifilm’s 1.10 firmware update for the FinePix X100 were several that addressed issues raised in our original in-depth review. To reflect this, we have gone back into the studio and re-tested the X100 to see just how much difference the changes make. Does the update allow the X100 to achieve its obvious potential as a high-quality luxury compact camera, or is it still too quirky to earn our outright recommendation? Nikon D5100 updated samples gallery

Just posted: Updated Nikon D5100 samples gallery. Following publication of our 9-page hands-on preview of the D5100 earlier this week, we’ve taken advantage of a trip to Los Angeles (and some correspondingly nice weather) to expand the samples gallery. We’ve added nine images to the gallery, taken at a range of different settings and we’re currently working hard to turn our preview into a full in-depth review as soon as possible.

Sony NEX firmware v03 now available/review updated

Sony has announced firmware version 03 for its NEX-5 and NEX-3 interchangeable lens cameras is now available for download. The latest version makes major changes to the user interface amongst other enhancements. A separate firmware update for the LA-EA1 A-mount adapter also adds AF support for 14 Sony SAM and SSM lenses. We have now updated our review of both cameras to reflect the changes.
