Olympus has announced the M.Zuiko ED 40-150mm F2.8 Pro lens. Built to withstand the elements, this dust, splash and freezeproof telephoto zoom covers a range equivalent to 80-300mm. Sony has unveiled another full-frame compatible lens for its E-mount, the FE PZ 28-135mm F4 G OSS. With an emphasis on its capabilities in video production, it offers three separate control rings for zoom, focus and aperture. This week Corel has unveiled PaintShop Pro X7 and PaintShop Pro X7 Ultimate, two new versions of its image editing software for Windows. This update features extensive changes to the user interface as well as a claimed 30 percent improvement in brush performance, including the Paint Brush, Airbrush and various retouching tools. Speed improvements have allowed for new instant previews of effects before they are applied to images and the 64-bit architecture allows fast performance with larger or multiple images. Read more

Ricoh and its Pentax brand have never been afraid of a little color, and the introduction of the K-S1 DSLR reaffirms that. The K-S1 offers a 20.1MP APS-C sensor, an AA filter simulator (as seen on the Pentax K-3) and burst shooting at 5.4 fps, but none of that is quite as attention-grabbing as its headline body specification – a set of green LEDs on the front of the camera’s grip and around the power switch. Hasselblad has taken another step towards the total switch to CMOS sensors with the introduction of new multi-shot versions of the company’s H5D 50c, including a model that outputs images of up to 200 million pixels. The H5D-50c MS and H5D-200c MS are 4-shot and 6-shot bodies that use pixel shifting to create higher resolution images than their 50-million-pixel sensors could in a single shot. Chinese device manufacturer Xiaomi unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, the Mi 4, today. With a metal frame and a distinctly iPhone-esque design the Mi 4 looks like a premium product and its specification sheet confirms this initial impression, boasting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC and 3GB RAM. Microsoft has announced the latest member of its Surface tablet family, the Surface 3 Pro, at a press event in New York. According to Microsoft, the new model is designed to be a replacement for both your iPad and laptop. With 5MP front and rear cameras, the Pro 3 doesn’t look like a particularly competent capture device but its specifications make it look like a decent option for image editing on the go. Learn more

Toshiba has announced the industry’s first microSD memory cards to comply with the UHS-II standard. Also being UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) enabled will allow the new cards, available in 64GB and 32GB capacities, to capture 4K video at constant minimum write speeds of 30MB/s. The 64GB cards offer a maximum read speed of 260MB/s and a maximum write speed of 240MB/s. The 32GB cards have a maximum read speed of 145MB/s and maximum write speed of 130MB/s. Learn more

Nokia has launched a new high-end smartphone. The Lumia 930 is the international version of the Lumia Icon that was launched a few weeks ago as an exclusive model for U.S. carrier Verizon. Looking at the specifications, the 930’s camera module appears to be identical to the unit used in Nokia’s 6-inch phablet, the Lumia 1520. The 1/2.5-inch BSI CMOS sensor offers 20MP and the F2.4 aperture is combined with an optical image stabilization system and a dual-LED flash. Learn more
