As part of the development of connect.dpreview.com we’ve created a more advanced, more detailed test scene, which will be launched on dpreview.com soon. The new scene is roughly eight times larger (in area) than the existing test, allowing us to test to even higher resolutions than before, amongst other improvements. Click through for more details.
This year the peak of Fall colour in Algonquin Park coincided with the arrival of a production Sony Alpha A99 camera for testing. I was able to spend several days working with the A99 in a range of weather and light conditions, along with a wide selection of Zeiss and G series lenses.
My field test report is now online.
"You and Jeff did it again! A great series of videos.
I’ve watched the earlier Camera to Print series as well as the LR 2 & 3 videos and as usual, I learned
new technique and ideas even though I’ve been behind a camera for 45 years.
Additionally, the rapport you two have is most engaging, enjoyable, and totally different than the sterile video tutorials from others (I’m afflicted with being a visual learner).
Again, a great series of videos that have helped me grow once again."

Sheffield Timelapses 2012 — 1080p This was shot over the course of the 2011/2012 academic year, with many hours sat in the good (and bad) weather. I’ve had to cut this project short as the weather hasn’t allowed me to film all the timelapses I wanted and the end of year stress with exams has meant I had to cut down the editing. Overall there were 8371 photos taken, with just over 11.6 hours filming. Shot from 22 locations in and around Sheffield. The locations are (in order): -Crookes Cemetery (Crematorium) -Ladybower Reservoir -West Street -Sheffield Train Station -Ponds Forge -Ladybower Reservoir -Crookes Cemetery -Parkwood Springs -Derwent Dam -Crookes Park (North) -St George’s Church -Sheffield City Hall -Redmires Reservoir -Crookes Cemetery (North) -Stanage Edge (North) -Stanage Edge (South) -Rivelin River Weir (1) -Rivelin River Weir (2) -Stanage Edge (North) -Crookes Clouds -Brook Hill Roundabout (University Square) -Western Park Camera — Nikon D60 Software — DIYPhotoBits Camera Contoller 5.1, After Effects CS5 Song — Cherry, Ratatat Hopefully I’ll be releasing more timelapse videos in the future, so keep your eyes peeled! Also, if you’ve any questions/comments feel free to let me know! Watch in full 1080p HD! Video Rating: 5 / 5

Just published: studio test samples from the Olympus OM-D E-M5. We’ve just received a production-standard E-M5 so have rushed it into the studio to shoot our standard test scene. These shots have been added to our preview, but can also be accessed from other camera reviews or from the standalone comparison tool. Have a look to see how it stacks up against its rivals, or download the Raw files to subject them to your favored workflow.
We’ve just published images of our standard test scene taken with Nikon’s latest professional DSLR, the 16MP D4. These have been shot using a production-standard D4 and, as usual, include both Raw and JPEG images with all original files available for download. Added them to our comparison tool means they can be called-upon from other reviews or the standalone comparison tool. For this test we used the recently-announced Nikon AF-S Nikkor 85mm f/1.8 and we’ll be publishing ‘real world’ galleries both the D4 and 85mm over the coming days.
