Stand Up Paddling the South Platte River below Denver

14 Nov

SUP on South Platte River

November 3, 2012. Paddling Bark Expedition SUP on the South Platte River near Kersey, Colorado. Camera: GoPro Hero.

It was my first time with SUP on a river – a short, but intense upstream / downstream workout starting at the Kersey bridge. A nice weather and good river flow. You can find more picture from that paddling in Fitness Paddling blog.

I will be back on the South Platte with SUP or other boat. The winter paddling season is open.

Vampire Weekend – The Kids don’t stand a chance (Miike Snow Remix)

22 Oct

This video was created using over 10000 images shot one night with my D300. This was shot before Nikon had released any cameras with a video capability. The idea behind it was to have grungy choppy feel much like an old 8mm film video camera, but in HD quality. (an idea adapted from a long time friend as well as an amazing photographer commonly known as Kenn Taylor.) It was mostly just test, but turned out quite well in my opininon. I hope you like it! The bar in the video is called “Zaphod Beeblebrox” located in Ottawa Ontario Canada, music is by Vampire Weekend – The Kids Don’t Stand a Chance (miike snow remix)
Video Rating: 5 / 5

Preparing for Winter SUP (Stand Up Paddling) Season

stand up paddling in drysuit

October 13, 2012. Paddling Expedition Bark SUP in Beaver Pond (Arapaho Bend Natural Area, Fort Collins) and trying a drysuit in preparation for a cold season. Camera: GoPro Hero.

I haven’t paddled in my drysuit for years. Last time I used it probably 5 or 6 years ago when paddling in rain and snow on the Dismal River in Nebraska during Thanksgiving Day weekend. I am going to use the drysuit on a SUP in cold season. Of course, it’s not so much fun as paddling in shorts. I just need to replace my neck gasket.

SUP in Riverbend Ponds Natural Area

September 30, 2012. To SUP ot not to SUP? Paddling SurfTech 14-0 Bark Expedition SUP in Riverbend Ponds Natural Area. Camera: GoPro Hero.

Starting from the parking lot on Cairnes St (off Timberline, left shore of the Poudre River) it is possible to paddle a loop through three small ponds with one very short portage and one passing under low walk board (on the picture above). The smallest Turtle Pond is amazing – a crystal clear water with a lot underwater vegetation. It is one of my favorite photography spots in Fort Collins. That long walk board appears in many of my pictures.

Microsoft Word 2010 – Make Paragraphs Stand Out with Drop Caps

30 Oct

Drop Caps can make the first paragraph of a chapter or document section stand out, and they are easy to make and customize.

Many books and other documents incorporate the use of an initial at the start of a chapter or section; this is a stylized first letter that stands out from the rest of the text.

With Microsoft Word 2010 you can easily add an initial to the left of a paragraph, as well as a drop cap, an initial in-line with the text (see the screenshot to the right for an example). …
