One of the weak areas in Sony’s NEX camera line-up, both stills and video, has the need for a high quality wide-angle zoom.
The Sony 10-18mm f/4 E has recently started shipping, and it turns out to be a pretty terrific optic, greatly addding to the overall versatility of the NEX system.

iFixit.com has performed a complete tear-down of the Nikon D600, reducing it to its component parts to see how easy it is to repair. Nikon’s latest full-frame DSLR scored a low ‘repairability’ score, of 2 out of 10 since ‘most components almost require a certification in soldering in order to properly remove’. On the plus side, the tripod mount is easy to remove, if you ever cross-thread it accidentally. iFixit has also worked with semiconductor experts Chipworks to take a very close look at the D600’s 24MP CMOS sensor. Sony has introduced two 4K-capable modular cameras, including the PMW-F55 which has a Super 35-sized sensor with a global shutter. The specifications of the two cameras are pretty overwhelming – 16-bit Raw recording, parallel 2K and 4K recording, but the biggest news is the global shutter – the ability to capture all pixels simultaneously, rather than one line at a time – totally eliminating rolling shutter effect.
