It’s not often we get to eat what we photograph, but that’s what we did in our latest Field Test. We took the Samsung NX500 into the woods with pro photographer and mycology enthusiast Eirik Johnson to forage for some wild mushrooms. While providing a keen eye to make sure we didn’t try to eat anything poisonous, Eirik also helped us try out the NX500’s imaging and 4K video features. Read more

Samsung launches enormous 18.4-inch Galaxy View tablet
With smartphone screens growing larger and nearing what used to be tablet territory, it’s probably natural that the latter are increasing screen size as well. Apple launched the 12.9-inch iPad Pro in September and now Samsung, which already has the 12.2-inch Galaxy Tab Pro in its line-up, has gone one step further and launched the gigantic Galaxy View with an 18.4-inch display. Samsung NX1 firmware 1.40 adds digital video IS and AF while zooming
Samsung has released another firmware update for the NX1 mirrorless camera, taking the model from firmware version 1.32 to 1.40. The newest software improves existing features such as the audio quality from external microphones, and adds new features including video digital image stabilization. Read more

This month at the 2015 Flash Memory Summit, Samsung introduced an SSD with the highest capacity ever: 16TB. The new drive has a total usable storage space of 15.36TB, exceeding all other similar high-capacity SSDs. Read more

Samsung starts mass-production of thinner 16MP sensor with 1.0?m Pixels
Samsung has announced the start of mass-production of its S5K3P3 image sensor for mobile devices. The new chip is 20 percent thinner than previous generations. At under 5mm thickness, the new sensor can be used in ultra-thin smartphones without creating the protruding camera modules we’ve seen on some of the latest Samsung Galaxy models. Read more
