We’ve discovered that it’s actually quite a handy lens for casual, everyday shooting – if you’d like your photographic pursuit to double as an upper body workout. Panasonic Lumix S1 sample gallery

We’ve been getting a feel for Panasonic’s full-frame mirrorless cameras for a little while now, but only recently received final production firmware for the S1 and its high-resolution sibling, the S1R. Take a look through our first images shot with final firmware and see how it handles a variety of scenarios.

Panasonic Lumix S1R sample galleries updated

Now that our Panasonic Lumix S1R has final firmware, we’re pressing ahead with our full review – but not before getting in some shooting time. Take a look at how the S1R deals with a variety of situations in our sample gallery, and we have to admit, we’re kind of smitten with the out-of-camera JPEGs (there are some Raw conversions too, of course). Head to the end of the gallery to see some samples of the S1R’s incredible 187MP multi-shot mode.

Fujifilm GF 100-200mm F5.6 sample gallery

The Fujifilm GF 100-200mm F5.6 covers a 79-158mm equivalent range when attached to a GFX medium-format camera. It’s the longest zoom option available for the GF system, counting both current lenses and those on the roadmap. Coupled with a GFX camera it’s not exactly the most portable option, but we endeavored to bring it along on some snowy walks and trips to the waterfront anyhow.

Ricoh GR III sample gallery updated

We spent a little more time with the Ricoh GR III out and about in Yokohama, updating our initial sample gallery to a total of over 50 images. Take a look at some additional out-of-camera JPEGs and converted Raw files from the GR line’s much-awaited successor.

Leica Q2 sample gallery

The Leica Q2 has arrived on the scene and we’ve been busy pointing its 47MP full-frame sensor and 28mm F1.7 Summilux stabilized lens at as many subjects as possible. Initial impressions of image quality suggest excellent detail and ISO performance, with impressive edge-to-edge sharpness from the lens. But we’re less than impressed with default JPEG color, so we included a lot of Raw conversions. Have a look…

Canon EOS RP added to studio test scene comparison, sample gallery updated

The Canon EOS RP is an impressively small camera considering the large full-frame sensor inside. That sensor gives you 26MP of resolution, and is closely related to the unit in Canon’s existing EOS 6D II DSLR. We’ve had it out and about for some sunshine and soul music in Seattle, and have also put it in front of our test scene to see what it can do. Take a peek through our updated sample gallery and around our studio scene to see how Canon’s new baby full framer fares.

Fujifilm XF10 sample gallery update

As we found in our full review, the Fujifilm XF10 is a little on the slow side and we were surprised by autofocus accuracy issues. But when it all comes together, this pocket compact is certainly capable of some really beautiful images. With a 24MP sensor, sharp lens and absolutely excellent JPEG color, the XF10 will reward you with some fantastic photographs if you’ve remembered to pack your patience.

We’ve done a lot of shooting with our XF10 copy and updated our sample gallery to give you a look at what it can do.

Sony FE 135mm F1.8 GM sample gallery

Sony’s announced the ninth addition to the G Master lens series in the FE 135mm F1.8 GM. This fast telephoto is well versed for a variety of disciplines, from portraiture to low light sports photography. Prior to launch, we had the chance to take it for a spin at both a Sony shooting event, as well as on our own. Our initial takeaway is the lens is very sharp with high contrast even wide-open, fast-to-focus and capable of pleasing bokeh. Longitudinal chromatic aberration, which shows up purple and green fringing in front of and behind the focus plane, respectively, is largely absent.

That’s some serious optical performance combined with autofocus speeds we’ve never seen from such a fast telephoto prime, which is what allowed us to shoot fast action with a high focus hit-rate. That’s in thanks to not just the four new ‘XD’ (extreme dynamic) linear induction motors driving two separate focus groups, but also the new ‘Real-time tracking’ mode on the new a9 with the new 5.0 firmware. Panasonic S1R sample gallery updated with Raw conversions

We’ve had a little more time to shoot around with Panasonic’s high-resolution full-framer and thus, top off our sample gallery. We’ve also had the chance to add a whole lot of Raw conversions, which should give a better idea of image quality compared to the out-of-camera JPEGs. So have a peek and let us know what you think.
