Canon EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM preview

We’ve had our hands on Canon’s latest zoom, the EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM, for a couple of hours and prepared a quick preview. It’s clearly designed primarily as a ‘kit’ lens for the EOS 6D, but of course will work just as well on Canon’s other full frame bodies such as the EOS 5D Mark III, as well as APS-C cameras on which it will offer a 38-112mm-equivalent range. In our preview you can read more about the lens and its features, including its unusual macro function, and see how it compares in size to Canon’s other L series standard zooms.

Nikon D600 Preview Updated with Resolution and Menu pages

Updated: We’ve just added our resolution and menu pages to our hands-on preview of the Nikon D600. These latest pages have been added to the preview as we work towards the full review. Nikon Coolpix P7700 Preview Updated with Studio Comparison Images

Updated: We’ve just added the Nikon Coolpix P7700 to our studio comparison database, and we’ve taken the opportunity to add three image quallity comparison pages to our previously-published preview. Our final analysis of the P7700’s image quality will come later, but for now, you can use our comparison tool to see how Nikon’s newest enthusiast compact camera measures up to its competitors in both JPEG and Raw mode. Just Posted: Panasonic Lumix G X Vario 35-100mm F2.8 hands-on preview

Just Posted: our preview of the Panasonic Lumix G X Vario 35-100mm F2.8 OIS. The 35-100mm F2.8 is Panasonic’s second constant aperture zoom for Micro Four Thirds and is designed to cover the classic 70-200mm equivalent range. It does so in a relatively compact lens that matches the company’s existing 12-35mm F2.8 bright standard zoom. The lens we have isn’t ready for the rigors of studio testing, so isn’t part of the relaunch of lens reviews just yet, but is ‘final’ enough for us to be allowed to publish a full-resolution samples gallery.

Nikon D600 Preview Updated with Noise & Noise Reduction Samples

Updated: We’ve just added a noise and noise-reduction page to our hands-on preview of the Nikon D600. We’ve got a production sample D600 in the office, and over the coming weeks we’ll be adding test pages to the preview as we move towards the publication of a full review. Mozilla Firefox – Plugins and Extensions – Add Print and Print Preview to Context Menu

Right-click on a web page and choose to print or print preview the page with the QuickPrint extension.

Do you frequently print web pages viewed in Mozilla Firefox, sometimes accessing the Print Preview feature to make sure your hardcopies look as intended? If so, you may find it frustrating to go through Firefox’s menus or use the Ctrl+P keyboard shortcut to access these features.

If you prefer using the context menu (right-click on Windows, Option-click on Mac), consider the “QuickPrint” plug-in. Just right-click a webpage and access the “Print” and “Print Preview” options from there. It’s that simple!…

Just Posted: Our hands-on Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX1 preview article with video preview. You may well have already heard about Sony’s full frame compact camera with a fixed 35mm F2 Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* lens. We’ve had a chance to play with a pre-production RX1, delve through the menus and discuss its technologies with Sony. We’ve prepared a four-page preview detailing the RX1’s features and capabilities and discussing whether we think the world is ready for a $ 2800 full frame, fixed-lens camera.

Nikon Coolpix P7700 preview – 12MP CMOS-based enthusiast compact

Nikon has revealed the Coolpix 7700 a CMOS-based enthusiast compact camera with class-leading zoom lens. Its 28-200mm lens has a maximum aperture range of F2.0-4.0, making it a whole stop brighter than its predecessor, the P7100’s. The P7700 is built around a 1/1.7″-type 12MP back-illuminated CMOS sensor, enabling 1080p30 video and 8fps shooting. The bigger lens means there’s no room for an optical viewfinder but the P7700 gains a flip-out swivel LCD instead. We’ve had a chance to handle the P7700 and have prepared a preview looking at the changes.

Canon EOS M: hands-on preview of Canon’s first mirrorless EOS

Canon has, as expected, announced the EOS M – its first mirrorless interchangeable lens camera. Based around the same 18MP APS-C sensor as the recent EOS 650D/T4i, the EOS M is the first model to use a new, smaller ‘EF-M’ lens mount. It is launched alongside two EF-M lenses that use STM stepper motors optimized for use with the camera’s hybrid AF system. As we’ve seen before in the mirrorless sector, the EOS M is predominantly aimed at the point-and-shoot upgrader market looking for DSLR quality and makes greater use of a 650D-style touch-screen interface. We’ve been using the EOS M for a little while and have prepared a preview, looking in more detail at Canon’s first mirrorless EOS camera and how it handles.
