8 July, 2013 – Anticipating the Blackmagic Pocket Cine Camera

08 Jul

The revolution in the cinema / video segment of our industry continues. Blackmagic, a respected video equipment manufacturer out of Australia, is about the ship its Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera.

If you’re a meat-and-potatoes still photographer, why should you care? Well, maybe you shouldn’t. But if you’re a film / video creator of any stripe this is another major step toward the democratization of high quality production equipment at an amazingly low price.

And if you’re one of the major camera makers, well, it’s time to wake up and smell the coffee. Here’s a relatively small Ozy company trumping you all by producing a video camera that shoots raw video for under $ 1,000, including an active Micro Four Thirds mount and a touch screen. Be afraid!

Unboxing Edelkrone Pocket Rig

23 Jan

I couldn’t find any reviews or unboxing videos of this rig so I took a chance on it. Great build quality, but it does have a few rough edges (literally). Mechanisms could be much smoother but can probably be worked out with some grease and repeated use. No commentary – sorry I got lazy.

Brookstone HDMI Pocket Projector Vs 3M Streaming Projector ROKU

20 Dec

This is a video to compare these two pico projectors. Both come with 0 price tags and 480p native resolution. Battery life of each just under 2hrs for the Brookstone where the 3M comes in around 1:40min. The 3M is a first of its kind to be truly portable with its inclusion of ROKU’s new streaming stick. Both are bright but Brookstone’s image quality does best the 3M..
