  • Canon creates ‘Video Camera X–series-look’ Picture Style for movie work

    EOS-1DC.png

Canon has created a ‘Video Camera X-series look’ Picture Style for its EOS cameras, specifically designed for movie work. As its name suggests, it’s designed to match the colour look of the company’s X-series professional camcorders. It produces low contrast, low saturation footage that’s better suited to post-production grading processes than the cameras’ existing options. It’s downloadable now from Canon’s website and can be installed on almost any Canon EOS model, from the movie-optimized EOS-1D C to the mirrorless EOS M.

  • Photoshop CS5 Tutorial How to make a Picture look Old Fashioned

Hey guys! Thanks for watching this basic Photoshop CS5 Extended tutorial on how to do a bit of color effects on an image. Leave a comment on anymore tutorials you’d like me to do in either Lightroom 3, Photoshop CS5, of After Effects CS5. By the way in case any of you were wondering, this was shot with a Canon 7D at: f/2.2, ISO-100, 1/200th shutter speed, and shot with a 50mm f/1.8 prime lens at 18mp (3456 X 5184). EXCELLENT lens, SUPER sharp and it’s high enough quality where you can actually max out the 7D’s full 18mp with NO grain, buy that lens if you don’t have it already, it’s only 0 new. TOTALLY worth it, I will never disown that lens no matter how nice of lenses I get. Here it is on amazon: www.amazon.com Please comment, rate and subscribe if you haven’t already, thanks!

  • Poynter.org goes behind the scenes of magazine’s post-Sandy cover picture

    nyc_storm.jpg

Poynter.org has published an interesting article examining how photographer Iwan Baan took his striking post-Sandy picture of Manhattan, which is currently gracing the cover of New York Magazine. According to the article, Baan took his photograph of Manhattan – which is half blacked-out due to the destructive effects of Hurricane Sandy – from the open door of a helicopter hovering at 5000 feet above New York. He went up on the night of Wednesday 31st October, when limited air traffic made it possible to hover for longer – and higher – than would normally be allowed over a major city. Click through to see the resulting image, and for more details of how Baan got the shot.
