Olympus offers Stylus SH-2 with Raw support

Olympus has announced an update to its Pen-like travel zoom: the Stylus SH-2. The SH-2 replaces the SH-1 with added support for Raw shooting, while maintaining the previous model’s 24x zoom (25-600mm equiv.), 16MP BSI CMOS sensor, 5-axis image stabilization and built-in Wi-Fi. Read more

Microsoft Image Composite Editor 2.0 offers new panorama features and improved interface

Microsoft’s Research’s Interactive Visual Media Group has announced the release of Image Composite Editor 2.0. The software’s latest update, taking advantage of the company’s Photosynth technology, can seamlessly stitch together ‘gigapixel images’, create panoramas from video, and automatically fill in areas of missing photographs. Read more

Canon offers EOS 5D Mark III and EOS-1D X firmware updates

Canon has released firmware updates for its EOS 5D Mark III and EOS-1D X DSLRs. Both updates claim to improve the user’s ability to control autofocus in Live View mode when wide angle lenses are used. Firmware 2.0.7 for the 1D-X also fixes a couple of issues, including a problem with vertical lines appearing when long exposures are used. Read more

Toshiba offers FlashAir III wireless SD card

Toshiba has announced a third generation of its FlashAir wireless SD cards. Like the previous version, the Toshiba FlashAir III acts as its own wireless LAN point for sharing to smartphones, tablets and computers. The newly introduced card boasts ‘enhanced photo sharing and management features,’ and maintains the same Class 10 rating as its predecessor. Read more

Panasonic offers up pair of slightly updated rugged cameras

Panasonic has released a pair of rugged cameras that have very small changes compared to their predecessors. The top-end model is the Lumix DMC-TS6 (FT6 outside of the US), which offers minor cosmetic changes versus the TS5. The budget-friendly DMC-TS30 (FT30) can dive a meter deeper than the TS20 that came before it and also has more onboard memory. Dive in for more

Huawei Honor 6 Plus offers three 8MP cameras

Huawei has announced the Honor 6 Plus with not one, not two, but three 8MP cameras. One serves as a selfie-capture unit at the front while the other two are lined up side-by-side on the rear of the device. Phottix offers Mitros and Mitros+ TTL flash units for Sony multi-interface hotshoe

Phottix has unveiled Sony versions of its Mitros and Mitros+ TTL flash units for that manufacturer’s multi-interface hotshoe. The Mitros+ offers remote radio flash control, with built in Phottix Odin and Strato II receivers. Both flash units provide a guide number of 58, with 180° rotation and tilt by 97°. Learn more
