Taking a Look at the Nintendo 3DS

17 Oct

Nintendo’s next generation handheld, the 3DS, is here. The box contains the system, an AC charger, a charge cradle, a metal telescoping stylus, a set of Augmented Reality cards and tons of literature. The 3DS can display glasses free stereoscopic 3D on the top screen using a parallax barrier. The effect is like looking into a diorama. New inputs include a really nice analog slide pad and motion sensing, and the resistive touch screen returns. New onboard features include a variety of AR games, a Mii studio, streamlined online friends lists and a 3D camera. The web browser and the digital store are not available at launch. Added horsepower puts the 3DS’s visuals at about Gamecube level, though few of the launch games really strut their stuff.

Looking for something to photograph this weekend? How about the Perseid meteor showers (which should be visible over the next few evenings and nights)? Click here for a couple of links to help you plan the timings and your camera setup, to get the best shots.

Search for stock quotes, charts, and related company news and information using the Google search engine.

To search for stock quotes using Google, you don’t have to search for the phrase “stock quotes” or “online stock quotes” if you know the company’s stock exchange abbreviation. Just enter the symbol directly into Google’s search box, such as:

* AAPL – Apple…

[MODIFIED] Digital Urban and Cityscape Photography – Look Outside the Main Business / Financial District

01 Aug

Step outside of a city’s main district for some of the best skyline digital photos opportunities.

Instead of taking the usual cityscape photos while inside the main Financial or Business Districts, you may want to scout out areas outside of the main ‘hustle and bustle’ to take wide-angle skyline photos that showcase more of a city’s architecture.

In Chicago, instead of just taking Loop pictures from the Chicago River and other well-photographed vantage points, consider heading out to Navy Pier to take a cityscape photo on the lakefront. Or, another great photo opportunity is north at Lincoln Park; shoot south, towards the skyscrapers, and part of Lake Michigan will be in view….
