Life on the island

07 Aug

Short film contemplating life on the islands at the Swedish west coast. The whole scene was shot during half an hour and in one spot at the ferry quay to Hönö island (Lilla Varholmen) a sunday afternoon. I was using a D300s with the Nikkor 70-200/2.8 VR for the HD footage and a second D300 body with a Nikkor 10.5/2.8 fisheye for the timelapses. All of which I shot simultaneously on two tripods. The timelapses were shot as two series of 600 RAW images each (1200 images total) processed and exported as 1280×720 JPEGs in Lightroom, then put together as a 25fps sequence in Photoshop CS4 and exported as Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC) footage for editing in iMovie. All edits and grading, vignettes etc. in iMovie ’09 on a MacBook Pro.

Bikes Make Life Better — Projection Art

10 Jul

We all know that when people ride bikes, life is better. In this short video, we bring this idea to life as riders trigger projectors throughout a city, transforming an urban environment into a vibrant, colorful world. A world made better, by bikes. peopleforbikes.org

A raunchy, playfully obscene British sex comedy that mingles the adult animation absurdity of Monty Python’s Flying Circus and the libidinous madness of American Pie, The Pinocchio Effect chronicles the rise and fall of a man’s erection, a rib-tickling quest for the holy grail of sex, and one man’s triumph over his own dorky, self-repressing nature and the “well-endowed” forces of nature around him.

Is she a Victorian pin-up, a girl next-door, a movie star, a party hostess, a factory worker or a swimsuit beauty? Her demeanor is radiant, vivacious and breezy. She exudes youthful energy and appears picture perfect wherever she goes, dressed up in the latest fashion.
When ‘Coca-Cola’ started in the 1890s portraying these independent women, it was still a uncongenial time for a girl with big ideas. Women were discouraged from thinking beyond household drudgery, and derided if they distinguished themselves. From these early days, ‘Coca-Cola’ has used the girl portraits in unique ways, always running miles ahead of the times. ‘Coca-Cola’ encouraged and inspired women to live their lives to the fullest and share life experiences.
Far away from the proper etiquette, the ‘Coca-Cola’ girl spreads her wings, chooses hobbies of the modern age and makes a lot of fun. She is traveling, sporting, sunbathing, inviting her friends over, flirting…
From the portraits of cheerleaders at the soda fountain to the ones of iconic actresses and women in flight suits: as a symbol of women’s emancipation, it could hardly be bettered.

Let Your Digital SLR Breathe New Life Into Old Lenses

29 May

It may not seem to make much sense at first but read on and be surprised with what you can do with some "old time" lenses.

First off I do want to mention that using film SLR lenses on a digital SLR camera body can range anywhere from very easy to very challenging and the way these lenses "behave" on a digital body may be quite different from its performance on a film camera.

You need the correct adapter or mount, available from …

The Far Away (3D Second Life Machinima).

29 Mar

I wanted to demonstrate what could be done with Second Life and 3D stereo rendering. So grab those anaglyph (red / cyan) glasses. Crank the system up to ‘HD’ and ‘Full Screen’ and enjoy AM Radio’s seminal installation ‘The Far Away’ – as you have never seen it before… www.get-real.sl http Enjoy.

Using the IZ3D anaglyphic Driver, it is possible to view emulated games through 3D glasses. The Driver (which is Windows only) can be found here: www.iz3d.com Played on Project 64 using Jabo’s Direct3D8 1.6 plugin. Recorded using Camstudio. I came, I played, I sucked. I know, I’m not very good at this game, but I’ve only played it for a few days. I meant this to be a tech demo. Of course, red-cyan glasses are required for this video(although the driver also allows yellow-blue). The music is “The Dark Side of Phobos” by Daniel Baranowsky, and can be found at doom.ocremix.org. As I couldn’t record audio without slowdown, this has to do for now.

MINUET [3D] : *Rare Special* Second Life YT3D 3D Video

13 Mar

This is a rare special sneak peak video of what’s possibly to come with SL’s Stereo 3D viewer in the future. SL doesn’t support Cross eye Stereo 3D at the moment, (hence a yt3d version is normally not practical). This is the first and only yt3d video on YouTube made with Second life that is ‘Longer than 12 seconds’ as of the time of publication. Most other SL Stereo3D videos have limited 3D capability (anaglyph mode) or are super short) You can view this using the cross eye method shown at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvShotHl1As This video is one of my first 3D Animated Videos in the to be created with 3D Depth perception. This video is Part 1 of a multi-part series dedicated to my 900 + Subscribers This was my first 3D practice video, so I focused more on trying to doing the process correctly rather than cutting edge special effects editing like my other videos. Characters: A Parody of Meik0 and Kait0 (or how they might have looked when they were younger)+ brief appearance by Mi0 and Bridget. Song: ‘Minuet’ – a Lover’s concerto. Filmed at various locations in 2nd Life. ——————— This Video is Not for Profit. It is a Free fan made video for everyone’s enjoyment. No copyright infringement is intended. ———— Continued in Part 2 and 3 with Lelouch, CC, Pikachu Miku, Meiko, Rin and Mio Akiyama. Stay tuned!

Original L and R HD Videos (1920×1080 AVCHD’s) were shot with twin GH1 rig, edited and exported with Premiere Pro CS5 to 3840×1080 f4v file (4k x 1k) for YT3D uploading.
