Nikon has announced the Nikon 1 V3, the latest addition to the company’s mirrorless lineup. The V3 sports a new 18.4MP 1″-type CMOS sensor that lacks an AA filter, but has on-chip phase detection that covers nearly 100% of the frame. The V3 can now shoot at 20 fps with continuous AF, and 60 fps with single AF. Other features include twin dial control, a tilting 3-inch touchscreen LCD, manual exposure control, 1080/60p video, and built-in Wi-Fi. Something that’s disappeared since the V2 is an electronic viewfinder, which is now an optional extra (depending on region). Read more about the V3.

Fujifilm X-T1 offers weather-resistant body and improved EVF

28 Jan

Following its first appearance in a teaser ad last week (and a comprehensive leak), the Fujifilm X-T1 makes its official debut. It’s a weather-resistant, SLR-styled mirrorless camera bearing a 16MP X-Trans CMOS II sensor, a chip it borrows from its X-E2 sibling. What really separates it from the X-E2 is the X-T1’s giant electronic viewfinder and triple control dials on its top plate. The X-T1 also has Wi-Fi built-in, and supports remote control from a smartphone.

Samsung’s latest flagship mirrorless camera has arrived, in the form of the NX30. It borrows the 20 megapixel sensor and Hybrid AF system from the NX300, but has a more traditional design. The standout feature is the camera’s XGA electronic viewfinder, which can be pulled away from the camera and tilted up as much as 80 degrees. The fully articulated 3-inch AMOLED display is 70% brighter than the screen on the NX20. The Wi-Fi feature has been beefed up, adding NFC support and a more robust remote control app. Find out more about the NX30.

Just updated: For Sale and Wanted forum features improved

12 Aug

Just updated: Features added to ‘For Sale and Wanted’ forum. It’s been three weeks since we introduced the long-requested For Sale forum and, at launch, we said we’d add features to improve the experience, if it was popular. Well it’s been a big success, so we’ve developed a range of special features specifically to make the forum more useful and easier to use. Not only have we added the ability to withdraw or close threads (and an option for hiding closed threads), we’ve also created a feedback system that allows buyers and sellers to rate one another.
