This issue plays around the conceptual universe of Marcel Duchamp. Not his life, nor his works, just some of his concepts.

– the medium, as an intellectual tool which goes beyond its specificity mocking it.
– the work, regardless of its representative and interpretative character.
– “art”, in terms of conventions, as “amorphous” as possible.
– “construction”, in which the work is not it’s purpose, but an excuse.
– interpretations, or rather readings which can coexist despite being seemingly exclusive.
– objects “aesthetically anesthetized,” lapsed in their likely sight complacency; “rectified”, “assisted”, to give them a new –often unusual- significance. As with the choice of “ready-mades”: “based on visual indifference and a total absence of good or bad taste”
– works “definitively unfinished”.
– rrose sélavy, his alter (-) ego.
– chess, optic machines, mathematics, geometry, “artifacts”.
– “mental painting,” “precision painting”, the rejection of any element in which sight can be delighted.

– aesthetics: – text, – blocks, – photographs, + mixed-media, + painting, + illustration.
– the whole magazine, in spanish and english.

Gee’s Bend: The Architecture of the Quilt
visual art
Gee’s Bend: The Architecture of the Quilt, which was on view at the Walters Art Museum from June 15, 2007 – August 26, 2007, featured four generations of quilters and demonstrated how the influences of architecture and the environment appear in the quilters’ visual vocabulary. The rich aesthetic traditions that have evolved in Gee’s Bend, a town of about 750 people on a remote peninsula created by a bend in the Alabama River, and its neighboring community, Rehoboth, can be counted among the most vibrant quilting legacies in America. Continually renewing their designs with a combination of tried-and-true techniques and bold innovation, the artists of Gee’s Bend have improvised upon well-known quilting patterns found elsewhere, such as housetop, bricklayer, medallions, and strip quilting. Here you will see a selection of 16 of the over 40 quilts that will be on view at the Walters venue. For more information, please visit thewalters.org/eventscalendar/eventdetails.aspx?e=374.

Crowd from Sound Booth

light metres, front

front jacket, tattered, of the 1982 collaboration between felicia lamport (verse) and edward gorey (illustrations).

one item of note that is less apparent when viewing over the internet, but obvious and appreciated when holding the book in one’s hands: the publisher (everest house and beaverbooks) has no logo, insignia or name stamped or printed on the jacket, and the artwork and names of the author and illustrator, along with the title, are the only visual elements. no price is apparent, and only until the reader opens the book are there any pernicious details on which modern business insists (and even these are reserved and unobtrusive). publishing houses, this is how sensible people like their books presented.

America Needs McGovern: He Can Put It Together
visual art
"America Needs McGovern: He Can Put It Together" George McGovern. By Larry Rivers, after Malcolm Varon, 1972. Color photolithographic halftone poster. 75.6 x 58.4 cm (529 3/4 x 23 in.): Cycling the viewer’s eyes away from a crossed-out sketch of President Nixon to a smiling photograph of George McGovern, this poster by renowned artist Larry Rivers argued that America needed the 1972 Democratic presidential nominee to put the country’s scattered pieces back together. Using a wide range of visual techniques, including pencil sketches, stencil, photography, collage, varied lettering, and puzzle pieces, the artist gave the poster the informal, youthful, and almost rebellious tone that characterized aspects of McGovern’s presidential bid and famous campaign against the Vietnam War.

Connect: Do these images show new 13MP Sony sensor in action?

24 Jan

xperia_z_ip5_oppo5_5.jpeg

A Vietnamese site is sharing what it claims are sample images from Sony’s new Xperia Z smartphone, compared with shots from both the Apple iPhone 5 and the Oppo Find 5, both of which will feature Sony’s new 13-megapixel Exmor RS stacked CMOS sensor. Although we can’t vouch for the integrity of the sample shots, if they’re genuine, the comparison provides an interesting look at what the Xperia and Oppo Find 5’s cameras may be capable of. Click through for the full story, and images, on connect.dpreview.com.

MAZE »The Path to Typographic Excellence« (for widescreen displays)
visual art
Wallpaper 1920×1200 designed with the typefaces listed here below:

Typefaces in use:

Ricardo Marcins and Erica Jungs (PintassilgoPrints) decorative display face »Changing«
Changing is a lively font, loaded with many automatic interlock pairs that do their magic in OpenType aware applications. Its peculiar design and such choices for letter combinations make this a very dynamic, spirited and useful typeface.

Nick Curtis’ (Nick’s Fonts) retro script face »Fuller Brush NF«

Fuller Brush NF is a snappy single-stroke alphabet from The New Lone Pine ABC of Showcard and Ticketwriting, which Aussie author C. Milnes suggested should be executed with a well-loaded brush, provided the inspiration for this loose, lilting retro script. Its condensed letterforms and tight spacing allow for larger headlines than most brush scripts, and its bouncing baseline adds an extra dollop of visual fun. The PC Postscript, Truetype and Opentype versions contain the complete Latin language character set (Unicode 1252) plus Central European (Unicode 1250) languages as well.

Maze: Matevz Medjas (Gigofonts) decorative headline type family »Gf Selfcensor«

Gf Selfcensor Gf Selfcensor is a compressed unicase typeface best suited for use at display sizes. It works well in magazines/newspapers, posters, flyers, and book covers. When printed in black or red it has the character and seriousness of classic newspaper headline fonts, and when brightly colored it becomes live and playful. Negative leading is not a problem with it, it’s a must!

Kurdistan Flowers, Nature,

Involves the concept of art itself is true creativity. But the concept of photography in the fabric of real creativity and innovation are intertwined. In Oxford dictionary for the word: "Creative art, especially in the field of visual arts that features the most value to aesthetic and intellectual concepts (through the principles of image) has been given."
This once important branch of photography and artistic value that the true meaning and remember it is purely artistic. This method has its own features, photography and sometimes with personal interests in some of the photographers do not match.
These days, digital photography to help this category of the traditional method Vanra former has completely distinct. Until a few years ago all the photos into black and Sfydhnry completely analogue and with hand print was placed in sight. This method still has a way more like old photography Photographers pure art form of hand have started, yet most of their work on the negatives and printing emergence stage and are doing. Since you published this exactly two photographers to implement a method, the result will be similar, yet their appeal for old photographs is maintained.
Can be claimed that all fields and subjects of photography in this section, but instead have their own artistic vision with the remarkable changes that they can, are formed. Portraits, nature photography and anatomy of human body style threads are considered fixed. Lighting in this letter comes first and look at each type of photographer Nvrv angle it will be displayed.
Our eyes are accustomed to images defined the style of art to see. New possibilities with digital cameras and also the photographer for any maneuvering that is open, still photos to the fact that we see closer and yet closer Different ways to picture the concept art there. The only power In photography there.
One of the features in photography is that sometimes incredible picture and the subject is difficult. Subject through composition and light enough to be ideal and dream far away from reality seems to be. Photography techniques play a vital role in creating these images make up. Special case that has caused this directory with photos are diversity.
These days photography is an excuse for anyone to think his style is all. Today, many photographs and portrait photographs that are used to the rhythm of chemists, are trying to corner some of the photography in itself to have. But I problem causes many ways to go wrong. Several lenses and filters can not get enough instruments photo is beautiful. Many new photographers prefer not paying attention to this issue; different fabrics in the wind, trees, colors, now dive in the water, details of male and female bodies, the use of insects and … Into tools and equipment are in the picture art are clearly seen. Perhaps photographers still thought to form and rhythm figure photography is the only real meaning of d Rhalykh this type of photography started Pydayshsh sincerely concepts with minimal symbols to transmit.
Photography concepts and issues broad enough that colleges and universities in all countries, for they intended to basic methods and rules of this art be taught first and then young photographers, looking to go light and breeding goal. The concept of fine art and pure art day between intellectuals and young people are more bold. Classroom and teacher training is also an excuse for fans to remember and pronounce Bdhndaz game away and the original case and the pure art of photograph

Description: Theresa Bernstein lived to be approximately 111 years old. During her long life, she gained recognition as one of the first women to paint in the Realist style. While she tried to veil her gender by signing her paintings ‘T. Bernstein’, she was both hailed and flailed for "painting like a man" in the 1910s. Her determination was legendary, when she broke her right hand, she painted with her left. When she could no longer hold a brush, she painted by squirting paint from tubes.
