Accessory grip maker Richard Franiec has created a custom grip for the Sigma DP1 Merrill and DP2 Merrill. As usual, the grip is made from anodized aluminium alloy and attached to the front of the camera using high-strength 3M double-sided tape. The grip attaches securely by can be removed if necessary. The grip will be available from December 2012 at a cost of $ 36.95 plus shipping.

There are a number of individuals who are CNC machinists as well as photographic enthusiast. John Milich is one such, and he has recently made available a terrific L bracket and grip for the Sigma DP1/2 Merrill cameras. I report on this here, and also provide links to new firmware for both cameras and also a much needed update to Sigma Photo Pro that just were released.

As usual for one of Franiec’s grips, the anodized aluminium accessory is held in place with 3M VHB tape, which holds it firmly in place but can be removed, without damage, later. The design follows the pattern of his existing grips and doesn’t protrude beyond the camera’s retracted lens barrel, so that pocketability isn’t reduced. The grip will be available from August 2012 at a cost of $ 34.95, plus shipping.
Richard Franiec has announced that his accessory grip for the Olympus E-PL3 will start shipping on September 15th and has confirmed it will fit the PEN Mini (E-PM1). The aluminium grips are available at a cost of $ 34.95 plus shipping.

Phase One, Mamiya and lighting manufacturer Profoto have jointly announced the V-Grip Air, a vertical grip with built-in wireless flash trigger. The V-Grip Air, designed for the Phase One and Mamiya 645DF cameras allows wireless flash control at sync speeds up to 1/1600s. The wireless system works with all current and most modern Profoto flash systems and can be used with other makers’ flashes using an optional Profoto transceiver unit. The grip will be priced at 90/€990 while the transceiver unit for third-party flashes costs 9/€149.
