  • Video Games – The Gallery Show!

    Tuesday night at 8:56PM I received a message from The Hive gallery in Salt Lake City, they were in a bit of a bind. They had an art show, all about video games, opening in three days and due to a cancellation they were short one artist.

    Video game show? I was in… I had absolutely NO idea what I could do with a day’s notice but I did already have a shoot scheduled the next day with the beautiful Kianna. It seemed meant to be.

    We shot all four images within 12 hours of receiving the assignment. As you can see, we had a bit of fun.

  • Just posted: Quick Pentax K-30 samples gallery

    We’ve prepared a quick samples gallery using the Pentax K-30 – Pentax’ latest mid-level DSLR with a 16.3MP CMOS sensor. We’re working on a review but recently technical writer Lars Rehm had the chance to take the camera and the 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 lens on a road trip down the coast on Highway 101 and to Crater Lake in Oregon, taking a lot of pictures along the way. The review is in the pipeline, but in the meantime we hope you enjoy these pictures, which should give you a taste of what the camera can do.

    We’ve just posted a gallery of real-world sample images shot using a production-standard Canon EOS 5D Mark III. We’ve been out shooting with a range of lenses and in a variety of lighting conditions with Canon’s latest full-frame DSLR, superseding our preview gallery that was shot with a pre-production camera. The gallery includes some shots processed with Adobe Camera Raw and a shot using the camera’s multiple exposure feature.

    We’ve spent a bit more time with the Canon PowerShot G1 X, and will be publishing a samples gallery from a pre-production camera in the near future. In the meantime, we’ve taken the chance to expand our preview based on our further experience and some real-world shooting with the camera. This includes observations about its behavior and a chart showing the camera’s maximum aperture at key focal lengths. If you have any burning questions about the camera’s behavior, write a comment and we’ll do our best to answer when we publish our samples gallery (but do please read the updated preview first, to see if the answer’s there). The G1 X may look like an existing G-series compact but fits a near DSLR-sized sensor into its slightly brick-like body.
