Nikon AF-S Nikkor 120-300mm F2.8E FL ED SR VR sample gallery

The Nikkor 120-300mm F2.8 has all the trappings of a pro-grade lens: it’s unapologetically heavy, offers weather sealing and sports an alphabet soup of special lens elements and coatings in its name. Tamron 24mm F2.8 M1:2 sample gallery

The Tamron 24mm F2.8 Di III OSD M1:2 debuted late last year alongside 20mm and 35mm options. These full-frame E-mount primes offer 1:2 macro reproduction at an affordable $ 350 price point. Not to mention that they’re extremely lightweight: the 24mm F2.8 weighs 215.5g / 0.5lb. That’s an extremely attractive feature if you’re looking to, for example, hike up a mountain. Take a look at how it handles subjects near, far and somewhere in between.

Pentax-D FA* 85mm F1.4 sample gallery

The FA* 85mm F1.4 is the latest high-end optic Ricoh has released for Pentax full-frame and crop-sensor DSLR cameras. It’s ruggedly built and it joins the FA* 50mm F1.4 as one of the latest fast-aperture lenses for the Pentax K-mount. Peruse our gallery to get a sense of how it performs.

Canon RF 800mm F11 IS STM sample gallery

The Canon RF 800mm F11 IS STM (along with its 600mm counterpart) does something pretty extraordinary: it puts impressive telephoto reach in the hands of hobbyist full-frame shooters, provided they can live with a slower, fixed aperture. If that’s a sacrifice you can make, you’ll be rewarded with a lens many, many times less expensive than the likes of the pro-grade EF 800mm F5.6L IS USM. We put it to work on some of the inhabitants of Seattle’s Lake Union – those on the ground as well as in the sky.

Sony a9 II sample gallery

The Sony a9 II is built for speed and power, but that doesn’t mean everything you point it at has to be moving fast. In fact, its 24MP full-frame sensor, 20 fps burst shooting (with autofocus) and 693 phase-detect AF points make it very well equipped to handle virtually any shooting scenario. Especially those with slow-moving, meandering cattle.

Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 100-400mm F5-6.3 IS sample gallery

Olympus’ new M.Zuiko Digital ED 100-400mm F5-6.3 IS has arrived and it adds a versatile piece of kit to the brand’s vast arsenal of lenses. We’ve just started shooting with it and already we’re impressed with the sharpness throughout the zoom range.

We’ll be updating this gallery soon with additional samples (we did not intend to shoot JPEG-only), but in the meantime here’s what you can expect from Olympus’ latest glass when paired with an E-M1 III on a nice sunny day (27°C / 80°F).

Olympus E-M10 IV sample gallery

The Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV is the entry-level model in the company’s DSLR-style lineup of Micro Four Thirds cameras. It sports a 20MP Four Thirds sensor, in-body image stabilization, flip-down touchscreen with a simple interface and 4K video capture. We took it from the beach to the mountains and everywhere in-between to see how the image quality looks.
