A little bit of everything: Fujifilm XF 16-80mm F4 sample gallery

Fujifilm’s XF 16-80mm F4 lens gives a 35mm equivalent zoom range of 24-120mm, which makes it an incredibly versatile walk-around lens. So we did a lot of walking around with it. The built-in stabilizer means the lens is more flexible than you might think for indoor shooting, and the claimed weather resistance means we didn’t let a little rain or snow shower keep us from packing it along. Leica’s new M10 Monochrom is a dedicated black and white camera with no color filter array. Combined with legendary Leica optics, it promises to deliver 41MP images in stunning detail. How much detail? Do some pixel peeping in our sample gallery.

Fujifilm knows how to make a great enthusiast camera, but it hasn’t always gotten the entry-level quite right. Into the wild: Olympus E-M1 Mark III sample gallery

The new Olympus E-M1 Mark III brings a number of features down from the sports-specialist E-M1X, including hand-held high-res shot and an updated image stabilizer. So we put both of those features to the test in our sample gallery, with images from Olympus’ official launch event in Costa Rica and our own backyard in Seattle.

We’ve been busy as heck putting the Nikon D780 to the test, both in our lab and in the field. And the camera’s proving to be a great all-arounder, regardless of our subject matter or lighting conditions. What you’ll find here is an updated gallery with many additional samples as well as a wide selection of Raw conversions.

Across the American west: Fujifilm GF 50mm F3.5 sample gallery

Fujifilm’s GF 50mm F3.5 pancake prime isn’t exactly tiny, but it is impressively small given the large medium-format sensors it’s designed to work with. We paired it with a GFX 50R and took it out on the open road and to coastal California to see how it handles as a walk-around travel companion.

Hasselblad XCD 45mm F4 sample gallery

Hasselblad’s new X-series 45mm F4 claims to be the smallest and lightest lens ever developed for digital medium-format cameras. Equally compelling is the fact that at $ 1100 it’s less than half the cost of the existing $ 2700 XCD 45mm F3.5. So what does that loss of a stop look like in use? Fujifilm has made some substantial upgrades in this evolution of its popular X100 series. Like its predecessors, the X100V aims to be an ideal daily companion, and when a pre-production sample arrived at our office we happily started putting it to work in exactly that way.
