While no personal details are passed on we do get an overall report from Amazon about what was bought and are able to create this list.

  • Full 360-degree camera rig takes your 3D portrait with 60 DSLRs

    xIMG_0025.jpg.pagespeed.ic_.TP-LDuzYup.jpg

Printing in 3D is in the news a lot lately, but applications are usually limited to industrial prototypes. A company called Captured Dimensions has a different use for this technology. They’ve rigged 60 DSLRs in a 360-degree array to capture 3D portraits. The likeness is then printed using a substance containing gypsum powder, resulting in a 3D sculpture of 1/12 to 1/5 scale. Ready for your 3D closeup? Click through for more details (including how much it’ll set you back).

  • Pentax announces K-50 and K-500 mid- and entry-level DSLRs

    K50_1855WR_white-trans.png

Pentax has refreshed its entry level DSLR lineup with the announcement of the K-50 and K-500. The K50 is an update of the K-30, featuring less controversial styling and slightly tweaked processing, helping it offer a maximum ISO of 51,200. The K-500, meanwhile, gets most of the K-50’s features – the main loss being weather sealing – in a less expensive package. While not radically different from the K-30, both cameras bring twin dial controls and 100% glass prism viewfinders to price points ($ 799 and $ 599 respectively), where both those features are rare. Alongside the cameras, Pentax is launching revised, DA-L versions of its 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 WR and 55-200mm F4-5.6 WR lenses.

Multiple cameras can be connected at the same time. Click through for more details on connect.dpreview.com.

  • Sigma announces super-fast 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM Art for APS-C DSLRs

    sigma18_35.png

Sigma has announced the 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM Art lens for APS-C DSLRs – the world’s first constant F1.8 zoom. The lens covers a 27-52.5mm equivalent range, though the company has not yet announced which mounts it will be offered in. There is also no announcement of a recommended price. The lens will offer the light-gathering and depth-of-field equivalent of a constant F2.7 on full-frame, which may under-cut the need for some photographers to change formats.
