Nikon has posted firmware updates for the Df, D5200 and D3200. As well as a number of minor bugs and performance issues, support has been added to the D3200 and D5200 for the new collapsible AF-S DX 18-55mm F3.5–5.6G VR II, allowing them to display an error message if the camera is turned on with the lens in its collapsed state. Nikon has posted firmware updates for a number of its DSLRs. Updates for the D600, D800, D4, D3s, D3x, D3, D7000 and D3200 include support for the AF-S Nikkor 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR lens. The D600 and D800 see an improvement to the subject tracking performance in continuous autofocus mode when shooting using the optical viewfinder. And the D600 can now deliver 100% scene coverage via HDMI output. The updates are available for immediate download from Nikon’s website. Seemingly minor variations in the angles of a bounce surface can dramatically effect the illumination of the subject. Variable angle bounce surfaces introduce the very real possibility of misdirected light and uneven illumination.

We’ve just updated our in-depth review of the Nikon D3200 entry-level DSLR to include a page of information about Nikon’s WU-1a Wi-Fi adapter. The WU-1a arrived in office as we were preparing the review for publication so we’ve spent the past 48 hours using it, before adding it to the review. The WU-1a allows both wireless image transfer to a an Android smartphone or tablet, or to use the device as a remote shutter trigger (release of an iOS version is planned for fall 2012).
