Canon announces plans for firmware update to Cinema EOS cameras
This December, Canon will release a firmware update for its popular EOS C500 and EOS C300 video cameras, as well as version 1.3 of its Cinema RAW Development software. Support is added for a new color space used in recent broadcast testing, and both cameras will also gain the ability to use the assignable Func. button to specify color temperature. Read more

Canon marks 80 years since the Kwanon, its first camera
In the build-up to Photokina, Canon is celebrating its 80th anniversary. The seed was planted in 1934 when a company called Seiki-Kogaku Kenkyusho placed an advert for a camera called the Kwanon in the Asahi Camera magazine. The company, whose name translates as Precision Optical Instruments Laboratory, was formed to develop the first Japanese 35mm rangefinder camera in a world where European brands, such as Leica and Contax, dominated. Canon confirms price drop on select EF lenses
Canon US has confirmed several price drops across its range of lenses, including several L-series models. According to Canon the price reductions are in honor of reaching a milestone – the production of 100 million EF lenses. Price drops range from a modest $ 40 up to $ 1000 off the original retail price, depending on the lens. Read more

Canon offers three new wireless Pixma inkjet photo printers
Canon has announced three new Pixma All-in-One inkjet printers, the Canon Pixma MG7520, MG6620 and MG5620 (MG7550, MG6650 and MG5650 in Europe). They all offer wireless support with Apple AirPrint connectivity, as well as compatibility with Canon’s Easy-PhotoPrint+ web application and Pixma Printing Solutions. Read more

Canon’s massive EF 1200mm f/5.6 L USM is a rare beast, and the longest lens in the world with AF. MPB Photographic describes it as being in mint condition and has priced the lens at £99,000. PocketWizard Updates TTL Compatibility For All Current Canon and Nikon DSLRs
PocketWizard has announced the latest ControlTL firmware upgrade to its line of ‘Control the Light’ wireless flash transceivers and receivers, updating the MiniTT1 Transmitter and FlexTT5 transceiver and receiver units to work with all available Canon and Nikon DSLR systems. The company has also added resources to achieve a much faster turnaround on updates, as evidenced by new support for the Nikon D810, which was just announced in late June. Read more
