Gimpel3D Basics – Model Projection:

24 Jan

Gimpel3D converts still images and video into stereoscopic 3D using a combination of traditional approaches and a proprietary projective modelling system. www.Gimpel3D.com This video shows a basic example of using a generic head model to create facial features. The projection alignment is reached by associating feature points in the frame with points on the geometry model. Once the initial position of the model is established, it can be animated and keyframed to follow the face throughout the clip.

Photography Exposure Basics

10 May

cazillo.com Ever wondered how your camera’s exposure works? How to get the really shallow depth of field or stop a long jumper in mid flight? Read on! If you would like to improve your photography then you absolutely must know this, backwards, forwards and upside down. One day it should ‘just click’ and you get it, but until then watch this video a lot until you do. Your camera does a great job of calculating the exposure with its built in light meter, BUT it has no idea what type of photograph you want to create. I mention in the video in my mind’s eye I create photos in aperture priority, then transmit those settings to the camera. As you may know my primary subject matter is portraits and I prefer to have a shallow DOF (Depth of Field) and then set everything from there. ISO should be as low as possible, but not at the expense of a sharp image with a slow shutter speed. The magic number in shutter speeds is 1/60th of a second, which is usually fast enough to capture people standing still without any motion blur and will also keep camera shake to a minimum.

“Come with me…on a journey…..” ( ahhhh this Waterboys song is one of my all time favourites so it was an easy choice when it came to picking music when putting this video together.) Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to travel to Ireland….FINALLY, I made it happen 🙂 A land of uniqueness, strong identity, rugged coastlines necklaced with sandy beaches, unpolluted seas of the Atlantic ocean, ruins and archeological treasures scattered everywhere, vibrant, happy people and grandeur of epic proportions its hard not to fall in love with this country. Sadly I dont think my photographs will do justice to the beauty and vibrancy of the colours and land in which I saw, as some of them were taken while driving or on a bus – but I do hope that I have caught the essence of what makes this place so wonderfully magical, so you can enjoy it as much as what I did. I dream of the day I am able to go back… For all of the great people that I met and encountered along the way, Thank you!!! A special and very big thanks to Shane who offered and shared sooooo much valuable information with me. Thank you to Gavin Glass and his AMAZING cd Myna Birds ( the first thing I brought when I hit Dublin ..other than a pint of Guinness at the Whelans that is!! ) which ended up being played on repeat in the hire car making it the soundtrack for my trip! ) ….. and a HUGE thankyou to Mum for standing in line to get U2 tickets for me which were announced and put on sale while I was
