Amazon launches unlimited cloud photo storage for $11.99 per year
Amazon has announced two new ‘unlimited’ storage plans as part of its Cloud Drive service. The Unlimited Photos plan costs $ 11.99 per year and an ‘Unlimited Everything’ plan allows users to store an infinite number of photos, videos, documents and music for $ 59.99 per year. Amazon launches Prime Photos with unlimited storage for Prime members
Amazon has launched a new photo storage service called Prime Photos, and is offering Prime subscribers unlimited cloud storage for their images at no extra cost. Photos can be uploaded to Amazon’s Cloud Drive with iOS or Android apps or the Cloud Drive website. Read more

Amazon Fire phone packs 6 cameras for 3D effects and object scanning
Amazon has officially announced its much-rumored smartphone, the Fire. Packing in six cameras in total, four of them are dedicated to enabling a new ‘Dynamic Perspective’ 3D-user interface possible, whereby the device can track a user’s face and change how content is displayed. The main 13MP rear-facing camera has an F2 aperture and optical image stabilization. As well as being used for capturing photographs is also enables a new feature called Firefly, which can scan and identify millions of items. Read more

Amazon launch planned for June 18, rumors point to 3D eye-tracking phone
Amazon has scheduled a product launch for later this month at its headquarters in Seattle, WA. We are not being told what type of device we should expect but Amazon has started to tease the new model with a picture of one of its corners and a video showing users looking down at a device and reacting with statements like “It moved with me”. The teaser seems to support rumors from late last year that Amazon could be planning a smartphone with a 3D eye-tracking user interface using multiple cameras. Did Amazon just patent the seamless background setup?
On March 18th the United States Patent and Trademark Office granted a patent to Amazon covering a specific method to achieve the common photographic technique of capturing an image of a subject against a plain white background. Patent No.US 8,676,045 B1 describes a setup using multiple lights and a white backdrop which results in images that require no post-process retouching to remove shadows. Learn more

Blurb collaborates with Amazon to distribute self-published photo books
Blurb, an online self-publishing platform for photo books, is announcing a new program that will allow books created with its online tools to be sold on Amazon. Once a book is created through Blurb, authors may choose to create an ISBN, name a price and list the book for sale with the online retailer. Blurb charges a base price per book to cover printing, and Amazon charges a fee based on list price. Profit left over is paid to the author via Paypal. Learn more
