Raw conversions added to Canon EOS 7D Mark II: Real-world samples (beta)

The Canon EOS 7D Mark II is the long-awaited replacement to the 7D, which was launched in 2009. It features a 20.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor and dual DIGIC 6 image processors. It has a new 65-point, all cross-type autofocus system as well as an updated version of Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF system. We’ve just been provided with an early build of ACR 8.7 and we’ve taken the opportunity to add seven Raw conversions to our previously-published gallery of real-world samples. Click through to take a look

Canon PowerShot G7 X and Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX100 added to studio comparison

We’ve just added a trio of cameras to our studio comparison tool: the Canon PowerShot G7 X, Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX100 and the Sony Alpha a5100. The Canon G7 X and Panasonic LX100 were two of the most talked-about cameras to emerge from Photokina 2014, both managing to squeeze large sensors into compact camera bodies. Read more

DxOMark Mobile Report added to our HTC One M8 review

With top-notch hardware and plenty of imaging features, the HTC One M8 presents a lot to like as a mobile photography tool. Unfortunately, its 4 megapixel camera just can’t keep up with other flagship phones and we were underwhelmed by its image quality when we reviewed it. Our collaborators at DxO have put the One M8 through their usual round of mobile imaging tests. See how it scored

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH4 and Sony Alpha 7S added to studio comparison

With our comparative review underway, we’ve added studio test scene results from both the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH4 and Sony Alpha 7S to our comparison tool. The 16MP Micro Four Thirds Panasonic GH4 and 12MP full-frame Sony a7S both shoot 4K video, and we spent some time in part one of our review taking a look at those features. Real-world & Studio Samples Added to Nikon D810 1st-impressions Review

Nikon’s new D810 consolidates the older D800 and D800E into a single body with no AA filter on its 36MP CMOS sensor. A few days ago we received a final production sample Nikon D810 and we’ve been shooting with it intensely ever since. As well as putting it through our initial studio testing, we’ve also taken a quick look at the effectiveness of the new electronic first-curtain shutter and created a gallery of real-world sample images to show what the camera can do. Tamron lens profiles added to Adobe Camera Raw

Tamron has announced the addition of profiles for two of its lenses to Adobe Camera Raw. The Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD for Nikon mount and the 16-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD Macro for both Canon and Nikon mount have been profiled for use with Adobe’s tools for lens aberration correction for users of Adobe Photoshop CC, Adobe Photoshop CS6, Adobe Camera Raw and Lightroom 5.

Sony Alpha 7S added to test scene comparison tool

We’ve just added the Sony A7S to our studio test scene comparison. The A7S is a 12 megapixel full-frame mirrorless camera capable of shooting at ISO 409,600. It’s as much designed for video as it is for stills, but for now take a look at its low light performance in our test scene and compare it to an ever-growing list of cameras. See studio results
