We have just updated our previously posted samples gallery from the Sony Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* E 24mm F1.8 ZA. Our previous gallery was shot exclusively using the NEX-7 but these latest samples were shot with the NEX-5N. Together, these samples should give you a good overall indication of how the lens performs in front of both 24MP and 16MP sensors. As usual we’ve tried to shoot the lens in a variety of conditions and at a variety of apertures to give an idea about how it behaves.

At the press launch we’ve had a chance to shoot with Sony’s latest E-mount prime lens: the Zeiss-branded 36mm equivalent 24mm F1.8 ZA. We’ve been shooting the lens on a pre-production NEX-7 to show its performance in front of a 24MP sensor. Samyang Optics has announced a 24mm F1.4 lens in Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Samsung NX, Sony Alpha and Four-thirds mounts. This manual focus lens, with its large f1.4 aperture, is made up of 13 elements in 12 groups including 4 low-dispersion elements (ED). The lens is likely to start shipping by the end of this year at a price to be confirmed.

Sony US announces 24mm F2, 35mm F1.8 and 85mm F2.8 lenses

Along with the latest SLTs and DSLRs, Sony has also announced the
24mm F2, 35mm F1.8 and 85mm F2.8 Alpha lenses
in the US. Announced a month ago in the European market, the 24mm and 85mm lenses will start shipping from late September at retail prices of ,250 and 0 respectively, followed by the 35mm which will be available from mid-October at a retail price of 0.
