Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 – Stop Ending Slide Shows with a Black, Blank Slide

Remove the black, blank slide that PowerPoint 2010 adds to the end of slideshows.

After displaying a slide show, Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 ends with a black, blank slide with the text “End of slide show, click to exit”. Presumably, the reason for this is that slide shows may be shown on a projector or larger monitor. After a slide show is finished, you can use the black slide to “cut the feed” so participants will not see the raw slides in PowerPoint as well as your Desktop, Taskbar, etc.

If you do not care about your participants seeing these things, you might find this ending slide annoying and wish to just exit straight from a slide show back into the PowerPoint application. To remove this ending slide, do the following:…

Microsoft Outlook 2007 – Request Receipts on Every EMail

Tired of recipients claiming they don’t receive your e-mail? Force all e-mail to come with a delivery and/or read receipt request.

If you’re concerned that your e-mail sent with Microsoft Outlook 2007 is not reaching its destination, you can configure the software to request read and/or delivery receipts on every e-mail sent.

Note that delivery and read receipts will only be sent by software programs that support them, such as Outlook and Outlook Express. Also note that some people may have receipts disabled in Outlook, so you won’t receive confirmations from them….

Windows 7 – See Which Services Are Related to a Process

If a svchost.exe image is using a lot of memory or CPU time, view its related services to help diagnose problems.

The Windows 7 Task Manager is useful to manage processes and services, check the CPU and networking usage, and shut down stuck programs that don’t want to end. While using this tool, you may have noted many svchost.exe processes that act as Host Process for Windows Services. Curious about which services are related to which processes, especially if one is running amok, taking a lot of memory and/or CPU time?

IrfanView – Create Desktop Shortcut and Keyboard Hotkey if Missing

Make IrfanView easier to access by creating desktop and keyboard shortcuts.

If you often view and modify images with IrfanView you may find a Desktop shortcut convenient. When installing the application this shortcut may have been created; if missing, you can add it back. Plus, the Desktop shortcut can contain a keyboard hotkey to open IrfanView from anywhere – and this can be modified.
