26 September, 2013 – Creativity Remembered

26 Sep

Our regular contributor, Alain Briot, has just added Part 6 in his series of essay on creativity, titled Creativity Remembered.

"Having been to Antarctica with Michael and Kevin, I would say after having traveled the world and shot nearly my entire life as an exhibiting photographer,  it was one of my highlights in my life and I talk about it, all the time.  The images and experience of seeing something visionary and nearly extinct from the world, to see and experience the wildlife and scenery that does not fear humans is amazing.  The images I shot there won me two Smithsonian awards and nearly 18 other international awards". – Tim Wolcott

20 Sep

Miles Hecker a regular contributor shares a new article on the Navajo National Monument.

Kevin Raber has posted a new image on the Home Pgae.  This image was made last month on a journey from Svalbard.  Polar Bear On The Edge illustrates the environment the Polar Bear lives in.  This was a fascinating trip to learn of the challenges facing the Polar Bear all throughout the north.

Check back often for an update to Michael Reichmann’s continuing review of the Olympus OM-D E-M1.

16 September, 2013 – Olympus OM-D E-M1 Field Report from Paris

Micro Four Thirds is heating up. Panasonic’s GX7 has a lot of people excited, but last week Olympus announced the OM-D E-M1, its latest flagship camera.

I have received a review sample, just prior to my leaving for a week-long vacation in Paris, France. The E-M1 will therefore be the subject of a daily blog here on this site. Check in every day for updates.

13 September, 2013 – Panasonic GX7 Field Report

13 Sep

Though Compact System Cameras, including MFT, remain underdogs in North America and European markets, this is currently the segment with the most innovation.

I recently had an opportunity to work for a week in Mexico with the new Panasonic GX7shipping very soon – and found it to be the best MFT camera yet. Both stills image quality and video capability are first rate.

My Field Report on the Panasonic GX7 is now online.

12 September, 2013 – Won Over to The Cloudy Side

12 Sep

Where do you stand on the cloud? I mean the Adobe Creative Cloud, which has been of considerable debate these past few months. Subscription-based software rental rather than a purchase and perpetual license. Not an easy decision, with pros and cons both ways.

I’ve been quiet on the subject because I wasn’t sure what I would do, myself, but some recent developments have moved me toward subscribing. I discuss this is a new brief essay titled Won Over to The Cloudy Side.
