Hello from the UK. I own the Nikon D3 and the D7000 for making videos. Would it be worth buying the D800 as it does both? I have noticed on some forums that there has been autofocus issues. Have you had any issues with the D800. Thanks.

It cried out for me. I couldn’t resist! I own a Canon point and shoot, and I’ve owned a Canon DSLR, and a few random point and shoots from various brands.

when you come to look at stranded zooms, have you had any thoughts on the Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 VC USD… as its the only FX lens with image stabilising and seams to get good reports with sharpness

why pay extra 400 US dollar more for a filter ?

As fun as a wide-angle lens is, it’s also hard to use. I wouldn’t go wider than 24 mm, and the 2.8 is as sharp as the zooms wide open. So save your money. But don’t be foolish and get the 28mm f2.8 – it’s just money down the drains compared to the 24.

Apologies if this is dumb Q, but ‘ND grad filters’ is or are what ……. ?

    December 27, 2012 at 10:32 am

Hi there - thanks for your feedback. A simple UV filter will suffice to stop sand and dust from affecting your lens. You might also want to think about ND grad filters – to help you soften out the harsh light from the sun. Good luck!

Excellent. Advice and content without being single Solution biased. Love any input regarding Filters. For a forthcoming Safari – Namibia in Oct/Nov. biggest Issue is sand and dust, but not wanting to compromise colour etc through wrong choices. Thanks

Hi there – have you heard of the Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM? We would recommend that lens for you at this stage. Let us know how you go.

I am a professional fishing guide here in central Florida and I would like to be able to get high quality shots of my clients catch along with being able to take outstanding pictures of the wildlife here on the refuge. Can you suggest a great overall lens? I have a Canon EOS XSi 450D.
    Thank You.
